I guess now you have that Minecraft teacher's edition from a while back. But thats more is I think some sort of google classroom-like game mode than it is an edutainment game.

Was it even alive at all? I have never encountered an educational game that was even half as useful as conventional studying.
Lingotopia got an interesting concept for a language learning game but they should have used a randomly generated city instead of the static one they shipped the game with. What use is learning a language to navigate a city when you can memorise its layout

Whether a game is educational or not is just a state of mind.
That said, as someone who works in a game dev company that's occasionally hired to make educational software, they're usually just for use by specific institutions or specific events. You're not supposed to see out them out in the wilds.

There is an alternate universe in which The Typing of the Dead became big instead of Call of Duty.

>>993305 What I mean by "edutainment" is a game that explicitly advertises itself as educational tool, Factorio is a educational game, I'd argue more than most "edutainment". But you will never see it installed in a school's computer lab. so yeah, pretty much what you said at the end of your post.

>factorio is an educational game wildest take known to man. it educates you in what, multiplication? how many assemblers to a belt, how many belts to spm? how to commit war crimes against an indigenous population? how turning a perfectly fine environment into a polluted hellscape is okay if you're doing it in the name of "progress"? get real.

factorio is industrialist-accelerationist propaganda of the highest caliber. no wonder the czechs developed it, mining coal and iron is their only meaningful contribution to humanity. go watch nausicaa.

>>993562I'd amit that my basis for calling it educational isn't rock solid I got this take from(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPdUjLqC15Q) and how it aligns w someone I knew IRL. Idk if the game is part of some chezh nationalist agenda. But people's brains aren't contextless clay.Factorio is an abstraction. An irl factory can make a cpu, but they can't be arranged like one. If someone were to adopt that ideogloy from factorio, there were likely already predisposed to have it.

By this same logic I could frame this game as a satire " Look I made this entire industrialized world to animate Bad Apple" But I don't think the intrest in factiorio is really coming whether or not the world should actually function like the world in the game.
