The studio who made Disco Elysium. Apparently the game's original designer, writers, and art director got booted out of the studio all the way since last year? And so did all the Estonian writers, so now most of the writers at the studio are from the UK? The studio's also only hiring from the UK, and is looking for an expert on monetization?
Is there any Estonian / eastern Europeans here who got some insight on this?

The only official words we have from ZA/UM's original founders, afaik, is this blog post. It's so frustratingly cryptic.
There's also this tweet from the art director: https://twitter.com/artofrostov/status/1576539500012240897

Sounds like good ol people screwing each other over to me, I picked up DE on sale a little while ago hearing how good it is, haven't played it yet but it's unfortunate knowing it may be their last real work under the name.

Holy sheet, I thought they were all commies. I guess whoever flipped the bill for disco is a cock. Hopefully they start another team?

unfortunately it seems to be mostly the core team who were the commies. they've been developing the world of elysium for nearly 2 decades if not more. the people they relied on for funding basically ousted them and now own the rights to their creation. it's really sad to see. if you enjoyed the game and want to see more, consider donating to one of the core members, Martin Luiga on patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/aiolus

>>900739 as a fan of the original Fallout games, losing your creation to a company interested more in profit than creation always sucks ass.

This article's a good read of the whole shitass situation (though it does meander about a bit). Got an interview with Martin Luiga too.
So DE wouldn't have been possible without the investors but the investors were those bringing it down at the end. We really can't have nice things in this world.

For an product as artsy and avant garde as disco elysium im not surprised that investors and companies would eventually drop it.

>>900981 It's not that they dropped it. That would be fine, honestly. Instead they cannibalized it. Gutted it. Killed it without us knowing then reanimated the corpse.
I'm especially upset that original designer can't even use the setting (that he'd spent decades building!) anymore.

>>901024 yeah copyright laws fucking suck. Even if you create something, you don't always own the intellectual property rights. Blows my mind.

Corporate scumfucks screwed the creators over and will now turn thier work into a triple $$$ A horror show completely missing the themes of the game.

I'm sure they'll still make stuff. Will probably be low key indie stuff though. I don't think it made as big as a media splash so disco two will probably do well.
