I'm mainly a Keyboard + Mouse player and it's been ages since I had a proper analog controller, but I kinda miss playing with one. I want to get back to fighting games with them too.
I also have a Switch whose Joy-Cons are starting to fail, so it'll be nice if the new controller can work with both that and my PC.
Joy-Cons are really expensive though, but so is Xbox/DS4 controllers apparently? Any suggestion on which I should get? Or which cheaper knockoff you would recommend?

>>894339 Switch Pro Controller is really good unless you are a fighting-genre player d-pad psyco. For both Switch and PC, really long battery, confy joysticks and buttons... the triggers are also really good unless you are searching for analogue ones.
Cheaper is the Xbox One Controller, really confy too but doesn't come with batteries, so I recommend some Power-A instead, if you don't mind the wire they are really cheap and comfortable. But you need an adaptor for Switch.

Xbox elite controller for the extra buttons on the back, if you downgrade it's firmware and install steams advanced Xbox support and use steam input you can bind them to any button/keyboard key you want which can help for some games that need more buttons than a normal controller has
I use it for euro truck sim2

Switch pro is ehh imo not having analog triggers is a deal breaker for driving type games and the dpad even though I mostly use it in menus constantly inputs a left or right when I press down

Considering where the d-pad is placed on the controller, it feels more comfortable to use compared to an xbox controller

depends about your preference.. do you prefer both analogue sticks on same line or crossed? if crossed probably switch pro or xbox.. If you like them on same line, i would recommend any dualshock.. DS3 is nice but is having bad sw support for windows, and you need to download drivers, so better option is DS4/5 probably.. Do you like something unusual? Maybe Steam Controller, 8bitdo Also you can check hw companies like Razer, they have for example interesting Junglecat

Personally i wouldn't move from Dualshock/Wii U scheme or any kind of "clone".. i tried Switch Pro, Xbox and also Steam controller, but i just can't get over crossed analogue stick scheme, and DS4 is little big.. DS2/DS3 was more comfortable to hold.. tbh even Wii mote with nunchuck or N64 controller i prefer over Xbox controller xd

Yeah I'd probably go with 8bitdo though some things: The older models have you switch between connectivity modes with a button combos. You often become unsure of whether you did it correctly and in a fit of button mashing annoyance It locked up on me. L(1)+R(1)+START for 3 seconds fixed this.
top parts of the Plus's triggers are clipped on, a fall from a desk or chair could could break them off. They still work and feel well without them.

(only applies the the plus models)the joints on my ring finger tend to press onto the sides of the grips. It's painful after awhile as it's mostly just hard plastic. You can solve this with tape or warping a hair band around it but the newer model seems to have addressed this. the lower back end seem to have been Rubberized. I'm mostly being negative as there tons of others have sang it's praise. But aside from battery life and rumble, it's pretty comparable to the pro controller.

>>894341 Sad to report that I am, indeed, a psycho who uses the D-Pad often, even in fighting games.
>>894418 All my previous controllers (aside from the Switch Joycon) have the analogs on the same line like DualShocks. Does it really feel that different?
8bitdo looks promising. The one I'm looking at is called SN30 Pro+, though there's also the slightly more expensive Pro 2. Apparently they're compatible with Switch? Would be a huge plus for me if true.
(this is op btw)

I should mention the like Xbox one and later controllers have a clicky dpad and I wish every manufacturer would too

>>894519 not really a psycho? Ive seen many pad users play with the d-pad and not the analog stick. I thought that was the main point of using it in fighting games.

For fighting gamus your only real option is Hori FC, and not the new one.

>>894746 Ooh looks interesting. How are you supposed to play that though, do you hold it like a fight stick? Don't think my thumb is gonna like it.
