Like, I never drop one of these games while saying "Yup, I've done everything I wanted. Playing this sure felt great". Nope. It's always because I feel I've sunk an absurd amount of hours into said game and I haven't even progressed as far as I would have liked to. Am I looking at these games the wrong way? Do you gvrls enjoy them? Do you know any vidya that has the same feel as an mmorpg without actually being one (and without being simply a conventional rpg)? hope I'm makin sense

during the va-11 collab I dropped $50 on girls frontline to finish the va-11 storyline, did exactly that, and I never touched that game again. it was the most satisfied I ever was with any gacha.
if you want to feel good, play for the gameplay. I see a few people mocking strangers of paradise because of its retarded plot, while saying it was a pretty FUN game in the end.
gacha games can have pretty interesting story but always lacking in gameplay (the fans always say otherwise).

>>853405 unironically true
but I'd suggest ToME instead unless you are a weeb. the developer specifically said they took inspiration from MMOs for the controls (think WoW)

Yeah, I think you're looking at them wrong. Like, what do you enjoy about those games, op? Why is that not enough? If it's just the compulsive grind then you really ought to just stop and move on.
I used to play Fire Emblem Heroes daily, but then it just kinda peters out once I lost interest. I have fond memories of it though, and it's nice to check in once a month or so.
The point is I never force myself to play it. I left loads of story quests unplayed but I'm satisfied.

>vidya that has the same feel as an mmorpg without actually being one You're thinking of a live-service game, I think. A game that's constantly evolving without necessarily being multiplayer.
The big three in this space are Destiny 2, FFXIV, and Genshin Impact. Destiny 2 is shit for new players, so I don't rec that. FFXIV is an MMO but it has a robust single-player experience, def worth a try. Genshin is gacha but it's also a massive single-player RPG, I rec it.

Gachas are designed to pass the time for Japanese businessmen on the train home for 50 mins. So find your daily hour long thing that you have to wait for something; gachas then help pass the time

There's always the hardest dungeon or best gears/build for MMO and you can try aiming for that. As a retired MMO players, I can tell you that high end players who achieved those things will just end up making an alt or turning the game into a glorified chat application. So, you pretty much lose nothing if you quit after that.
As for gacha, I am playing one that let me play as little or as much as I want.

I never enjoyed MMO/MMorpgs nor gacha games. The interface/hud is always awful and full of things, I can't rest my eyes. And the story and gameplay it's always so boring... It usually ends up a with you grinding and farming points/money to keep you playing, while the sidequests are completely bland and uninteresting.

Thanks for the replies g/u/rls. I didn't mean to say I complete ALL the content in these sort of games. My problem is rather the opposite since I sink a considerable amount of hours in them and still can't fully beat them.
Still, these comments have shown me a new way of seeing things and now I get why so many people like them so much. (Plus, nowadays I spend a lot of time commuting so I picked up one of these gachas again)
