But basically just keep sucking off Jarl Balgruuf until he gives ownership of Lydia to you. Then you hide behind your lovely indentured shieldwife and occasionally chuck fireballs or arrows at the enemy. You can trade her in for Aela later.

If you're playing vanilla you can steal the player housing, go through dialogue to buy it and when he's saying congrats or whatever press the button to back out and put all your cash in a chest or something and wait until he stops taking then you can pull it back out
Ussep fixes that though

Tm is toggle menus, you can turn it back off by hitting tilde again and entering the command even if you can't see the console window
Good advice very nice for screenshots

None of y'all are allowed to the rude to op. She might be a time traveler! Who knows!
To op: literally don't worry about anything. Skyrim is big enough that no single quest reward is "worth it". If it's hard, just go something else for a while. Don't be a completionist. It'll be a pain. Skyrim has too many quests.

Use a combat revamp mod, vanilla combat is garbage
Post number #842136, ID: b605c4
|
>>842014 Here's your tip: mod the everliving shit out of it or uninstall it. Skyrim is really not worth playing without mods, it's really kind of a shit game.
That said, when leveling, only upgrade HP; stamina is pointless and all spells can be reduced to 0 costs through enchantments.
Speaking of which, enchanting is the best skill bar none, max that shit. Black Star is pretty useful in that regard.

Op said cartridge which makes me think Skyrim on switch which I don't think has mods?
Also op most rewards are leveled so if you get higher level quest items will be better and you'll earn more gold per quest
Post number #842188, ID: 04c28f

>>842158 iirc, the level of quests are adjusted to when you first trigger them, with a range. So like if a quest have a range of level 10-20, if you trigger it at lv 12 it'll be adjusted for lv 12, but if you trigger it at lv 30 it'll be at 20.
So yeah, don't worry about level. You'll get better gear as you play. If things are harder, just come back later.

Get Dawnguard and tenderly hatefuck Serana
Op here! This. I play on switch lite so i can't put mods :( adding mods seem fun since almost all of you recommend it, but i have no choice but to go vanilla
also i became a werewolf during the companions questline and my actual companion went missing. Along with my items! Im dying. I shouldve sold those if i knew they'd take them away. Any idea how to find them again?
Aaaa

>>842014 The Black Star is essentially a reusable Black Soul Gem. Since all black souls (from sentient beings, of course) are grand souls, it can help a LOT in leveling up enchantment which, believe me, you'll want to.

>>842623 i've seen that when i looked it up!! I guess i just dont understand the difference between a black soul and a white one? You know how black gems and greater gems are different? I can't tell
Post number #842699, ID: df5eb5
|
>>842632 black comes from humanoids so men elves and such, basically let's you get the best soul for enchanting free from a random bandit instead of buying them or hunting mammoths with soul trap

>>842098 How has a normie get in here?
>>842193 If you really want to mod Switch version, it's possible, but you will need to mod your Switch which is not a cheap task the newer the model you have.
As someone who has played 100 hours on PC modded, and later 400 hours on Switch vanilla, the game is really enhanced on Switch and it's like the perfect way to play vanilla. No mod will make me go back to PC sorry, unless I want to play Skyrim as if it wasn't Skyrim.
Post number #842969, ID: cab4ae

It's Skyrim, if I can't do 1 thing there are 1000 other things to do. Mods majorly add new quests or items... like if vanilla didn't have enough content, mods are good for second playthroughs, Skyrim Together or if you don't like Skyrim, but if you are not interested in vanilla quests, less interested will you be in modded ones. (many people will never realize that mods are just doing what vanilla does because Bethesda bad bring back Morrowind bullshit)

After that, my tips: I would recommend getting the skeleton key from the thieves's guild main quest, once you get it, DON'T finish the quest, you will have infinite lockpicks. Speaking of which, if you are playing on a regular Switch, play with HD Rumble on, will really help you with the lockpicking.
Get used to fav your gears and spells, with d-pad up you can access a quick menu, dpad left and right can direct access them (a 1. or a 2. will appear) without pausing.

If that's not working maybe you have to bind these controls first. Also remember to upgrade your weapons and check around the Internet (not here) about smithing potions, they can be pretty OP. It can be exploited to have weapons dealt several digits percent more of regular damage. The Spiffing Brit is a great YT channel that usually exploits this if you want to check it out.

>>842970 i have the skeleton key! I'm not sure if HD Rumble is on switch lite.
I've always ignored smithing. You mean smithing is essential? D;

>>843588 I don't much care for smithing but I have several hundred hours on vanilla Skyrim already. It might help you? But I won't call it essential.
The most I did is refining the weapons I use (all of which I looted from enemies) and to craft metals into jewelries so they don't take up much space.

>>842120 which version of Skyrim do I need for this? I don't want to buy the latest Legendary Shining Ultimate Deluxe PS5 re-release Edition Remastered featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series & Knuckles just to find out that Todd Howard is fucking my lusty Argonian maid wife behind my back.
Post number #843843, ID: cab4ae

>>843588 oh yeah Switch Lite doesn't have Rumble, an external controller would but as confy as Switch Lite is it would be a waste to play with a controller just for the rumble feature. I expresed wrong about smithing, refining weapons as >>04c28f meant, the thing is, Smithing perks can significantly increase the weapon improvements
