Dumb name aside, it’s probably the first game in a while that I’m actually excited for. Any other g/u/rls interested?

Played the first demo a long while back and it really didn't impress me. Battle feels sluggish, and the writing feels cumbersome for what seems to be a typical fantasy kingdom drama.
How's the game looking now? Is the new demo better?

I know it's graphics are really cool, but at the same time they don't appeal to me, adding the setting, the characters...
I'm more interested in a Disgaea 6 sale and what Digimon Survive turns out, love when tactic games get crazy flashy, and the grind around it that is actually necesary and somehow tied and mixed with the story.
(playing Cyber Sleuth I have faith Survive will be really grindy)

>>837422 I have a friend who played every single Disgaea and loved all of them. They refused to finish Disgaea 6. Take that however you want.

>>f95ba2 The new demo is a lot of expository dialogue cause it’s the first three chapters. Like, a LOT of dialogue. About an hour or two between finishing the first battle to getting to the second. It may get better as the game goes on and there’s less exposition, but the demo has a lot of reading. I will agree that he dialogue is pretty stilted, deliveries aren’t great and are pretty slow and the medieval style talking feels a bit forced, but worst case I’ll turn off the voices

>>f95ba2 Also battles are how I remembered them. Camera can flip out sometimes from little nudges which can be really annoying given that you can’t move it during the enemies turn so you could be stuck with a shitty angle for a while. Wish there was a diff way to end turns, I’m too used to hitting b in FE to cancel stuff and here hitting it when a character is idle prompts the end turn and choosing a direction. Can’t end turn by hitting b twice at least. Overall still excited

>>837780 Ah that sucks to hear. I was hoping they'd tighten the writing more.
I love Octopath Traveler a lot but the plot has never been terribly interesting. The cumbersome writing works there because it's like a background flavour sort of thing.
They seem to be taking the story a lot more seriously here, which is the opposite of what I'm hoping for from Octopath-level writing.

>>837781 This also sucks to hear. Idk, maybe I'm just too used to FE's sharp movements and Small Numbers combat (how you can die in one/two hits).
I'll probably wait until the game is 50% off or something next year. But I hope you get to enjoy it when it's out!
