I'm not talking favourite game here. I'm talking favourite unique experience. Might sound the same, but hear me out. I'm talking about not necessarily what game you played and enjoyed the most, but more like a game that had an impact on you due to being a one of a kind experience that's very unique to gaming. Example of what I mean: FF6 might be your favourite JRPG because of how solid it is, but LISA might be your favourite experience due to how unique and one of a kind it is.

Basically, I wanna hear the games that are unique and a powerful or super interesting one of a kind experience that's only possible thanks to this medium.

In Nier Automata fighting the literal end game credits... while being assisted by will of other players who made the ultimate sacrifice... all puncuated by the heavenly singing voice of Emi Evans... only for me to make the ultimate sacrifice in the end... the deletion of my save data. Shit was pure kino.

>>832764 I haven't had that many, which is why I'm curious and asking y'all. But, I guess the most stand out one was Undertale. Back in 2015 when it was new and I knew nothing about it. The way that game remembers every little thing, can make you feel guilt like nothing else and has that whole meta narrative was really cool. But, by now that's one that everyone knows and other devs are copying, so, you know. Not that unique anymore. But at the time it blew my mind.

Honestly, Irisu Syndrome did some really unique stuff that's stuck with me. - Dropping a new game mode on you more than halfway through the game - The fact you don't even know what the gameplay actually, literally is until 2/3 of the way through - The way the genre slowly changes from horror to romance-tragedy - The pairing of yandere x suicidal guy

The entirety of Outer Wilds was just, well... Wild. Just, the whole adventure and exploration aspect, and slowly unraveling the lore and the events and the details behind almost everything in that universe... That one spoilery place where you meet a new friend has a special place in my heart and mind. The rush of having "figured it all out" and executing what needs to be done. And the ending, somber yet still kinda warm and fuzzy.
Please play it if you haven't.

>>832849 I do really wanna play that game. I've sadly gotten spoiled on a lot of it, but it still seems like a great experience.

I'd say Outer Wilds's knowledge mechanic was definitely an awesome and powerful experience for me. But someone already mentioned OW here so, I'll mention another game that was the most impactful experience for my life.
It's called Everhood. It helped me to not be scared of death or non-existence, while still I'm not a religious person nor I don't believe there will be an afterlife (probably), but it makes me wish to see something more after I die.

I think The Beginner's Guide is exactly what you're searching for. It's not really a game, it's literally an experience you go through. I list it among my top 3 computer games just because how strong of an impact it had on me. It's fairly short, about 2 hours, so I suggest to just choose a good day/evening/night and play it whole in one sitting. Honestly, I wish I knew more games like The Beginner's Guide, I want to go through something like it again.
