Hi! I'm finally getting my hands on a PSP. Do you g/u/rls have any recommendations for games to play and emulators to use?

I have a recommendation, but it's not for a game... https://revive.today/psp/ This is information about the different models of PSP, firmware downloads, and a guide to installing CFW.

>>811524 Thanks! Definitely been looking at Jeanne d'Arc. I'll look into the others as well.

>>811741 Oh, woah. That's a lot. Thanks!
>>811756 Yeah, I'm 100% getting that one. My interest in that game is part of why I'm buying the PSP.

>>811973 I didn't know it was originally PS1. Oof. But thank you for the education!
>>811992 Ooh! That game looks interesting, but I have no idea what it actually is. Like, I've seen clips of it, but I did not understand what I was looking at.

>>811995 imagine something as subway surf concept, basically you are avoiding things xd maybe you will spend there only 10 minutes, maybe watch YT is enough.. but it's nice obscure thing xd

>>811995 ohh wait first message was adressed to me xd yes, it is coming from 1999, basically same time as crazy taxi, it was commercial thing, but i feel little sad that advertisments aren't having "gaming form" anymore.. things like M.C. Kids, Cool spot, Coca-Cola Kid et. Or anime/movies promotions xd

>>812012>>812014 Yeah, I'm aware of what it is. Just didn't know what console it was from. But, thank you! And, yeah. I wish there were more games like that, even if just for the memes.

>>811995 Patapon? It's a rhythm game. You lead an army of these little critters and give commands by rhythmically tapping the button. Simple but fun and very cute.

>>812048 Ooh! That sounds fun! I'll check it out then!

My recommendation is to get a Vita instead, it's able to run the full PSP software environment so you can play basically everything you already could but you can add Vita games and some PSP games like GTA have a dual stick patch that only works on vita

>>812189 I made this thread because I'd already ordered a PSP. Vita also costs 4x more, and I don't have the money for that.

Rip I forget they went up in price so much I got mine for pretty cheap right as the first hacks were becoming available

>>812238 Ah, yeah. They've gotten mad expensive by now. I was lucky to get this PSP for £50 (including shipping + two games). A Vita in okay condition here would cost me £170 without shipping or any extra stuff. Those things are legit closing in on the price of a second hand Switch.

Even though I have a Vita as well, I still would want a PSP.

Star wars battlefront II was one of my favourite PSP games. Good luck getting it but it's totally worth it

As for emulator, I'd recommend the GBA emulator the most. PSP can support GBA games very nicely. The NES and SNES emulators too.

>>812401>>812402 Oh woah! That's a whole lot of games. Thank you!
>>812403 Sounds goodie! That'll probably be the first one I get then.
>>812404 Thank you! It really does seem under appreciated. It's such a cool system, especially nowadays.

>>812447 np! Someone tolx me Tekken 6 is an improvement over Dark resurrection so you could try that instead as well (i haven't played it myself so i didnt feel confident recommending it).
And agreed. Psp is under appreciated, the handheld has so many good JRPGs. It's sad :( i had mine until last year myself but it stopped working T.T

K-ON! Ho-Kago Live! is a good rhythm game if you like the series, but there's no official translation

(hit submit my accident, lol) on the topic of anime games, there's a fighting game based on ToAru Majutsu no Index that I enjoyed, and there's also NGE: Battle Orchestra

Oh, and it arrived today! Pretty good condition. A little dirty, but already cleaned it. Apparently had a 2gb card that wasn't mentioned, which was a nice surprise. Now I'm just waiting on the charger I ordered separately since the owner had lost theirs.

Psp best handheld ever Make sure to clean it and get a micro SD to memory stick adapted for more space, and if you are into it, consider modding it

>>814008 Thank you for the tips!
The charger finally arrived today though, and it seems the battery might be dead. It lit up when I connected it to the charger so I immediately went ate some food and then went back to it, but when I came back the light was off. I turned it on, and, well, it only works while in the charger and I checked the battery settings thing and it was only registering the charger. No battery detected, even though I've made sure it's in the properly and stuff.

So, that's a little disappointing. Idk if it's possible that it still works but just isn't registering for some reason. I wouldn't know.
I also can't update it to 6.61 because, well, the PSP requires you to have decently charged battery in order to actually install the update. So now I guess I gotta spend a bit extra and wait a week or two longer to get started.

You should definitely mod the PSP btw, there's no harm in modding it and modding it also enables you to just install ISO and play it from there instead of spending extra on games esp now since PSP games are rare and hard to find.
Post number #814916, ID: 336e06

>>814885 Yeah, that's the plan. I'd never buy it if I had to buy the games as well. I don't have the money for that at all.

There are microsd card adapters that you can get for cheap. The vita memory card is just a fancy shape SD card, after all.
