| Pretty sure the free version is definitely not the latest, and it isn't being distributed anymore anyway, they've moved on to Steam completely.
| The free version is around, and the Steam version, with Solstice, isn't that expensive.
Personally, haven't played the original one, but from what I heard, sounds like is worth playing regardless of having played the Steam one.
Let's just say there are some big differences between both versions.
