Fuck. You know what, now that I think about it, this might be the case. They've already started the split with Lite, this one might actually be home-only as its counterpart. It would totally suck if that ends up being true.
On the other hand, there were rumors about it getting new OLED screen, no? Wouldn't make any sense were it not portable.

If I were to guess, we're either getting a replacement for the regular Switch or moving to a 3-unit situation where one is TV out only, one replaces the regular Switch and the Switch Lite remains.

Nvidia discountinued production of the old switch GPU so the new one will use a different one. Chances are it'll be an upgrade.
Also Samsung already spilled the beans on the new OLED screen, so I don't think 1080p is that far fetched, but who knows.
