Gacha has to appeal to a large market to make as much money as possible so they can justify keep adding content to it.
Shin megami tensei global and Madoka global died just to name a few niche gacha that failed
Fate (FGO) gets rid of their porn from their visual novel so that everyone can play their gacha.

Magia Record is still alive in the JP server and SMT Dx2 is still going strong from what I've seen. SMT at least, it doesn't have a large playerbase, but those who are into it are really into it.
Gacha games don't necessarily need a large playerbase, just a large enough number of whales, but the former does fuel the latter.
Though I admit I'm not optimistic with Disgaea...
| Not interested in free mobile games designed to manipulate the player's mind to think they are doing it right spending over 100$/€ for a service game.
Buy or pirate Disgaea 1 for mobile, it probably has 1000 times more content than any of these gambling games will ever have totally from the start without additional money.
Even better, play all of Disgaea games and come back if you ever finish only their Story. It will still be cheaper than what you are going to waste rolling.

There are videos of gameplay out there already. It's extremely dumbed down and barely has anything to do with how Disgaea games play. Which, well, is to be expected, because the sole purpose of gacha games is selling you jpegs for real money, even though the games do pretend to be "free".

I'm just willing to give it a shot and judge it fairly, but I guess I forgot that the gaming community doesn't do that.
In my opinion some gacha are well done, so if this one is fun and doesn't require you to spend money, then it's good in my book.
Do I expect it to be good? No. But I'm not so mindless that I'm going to take every opportunity to be outraged.

| This is why I'll never consider Gacha as gaming, is as problematic and divided as calling a Visual Novel a videogame. Some (remember this SOME) Gacha players act like if they were gods among anyone else and can be as toxic as the gambling system they are supporting.

Global release means more servers and localization team. Which they can't afford/ not willing to maintain if the playerbase is low or stagnant. If your game is a niche game, most likely it will reach stagnacy quickly. Plus, with genshin taking all the money from gamers, they'll spend less on other games.

I don't see any reason to say that a game is objectively bad before they've even tried it.
Same with calling it good. I wouldn't call a game good before trying it, which is why I'm not doing it with this.

| Gambling and money is always brought up as if being f2p is not even an option. I don't hate gachas, but there have only been two gachas that actually had what I consider engaging gameplay. This one does not. All this gacha makes me want to so is play Disgaea again. Maybe if it had SRPG gameplay, but I gotta say the Disgaea gacha is trash
| Actually, I did start playing Disgaea 4 thanks to this gacha so glad this gacha came out to remind me that Disgaea exists.

| Yes, you can use most units and 5 stars are not needed, but there is no denying that new content will be geared towards new characters. Just like how you can still use flip phones in 2021, but your life will be less convenient. People use flip phones for their burner or secondary phone.
Not to mention some games limit your playtime unless you pay.

Is it the company's fault to study how to control everyone playing's mind with tricks like "f2p bad, p2w good" like the EA patented system of matchmaking noobs vs pro players and then telling them it is because they payed.
