During X360/PS3 era, the industry released more interesting games every single year than the entire X1/PS4 era combined.

Also for more context I've had a PC throughout the entire time as well, I am just using the consoles as reference points.

PS3 era games would look uninteresting today. PS4 era game only look less interesting because they mostly refine what the previous generation began.

I'd argue the latter was more interesting. PS3/360/Wii was full of brown/gray shooters, JRPGs dipped in quality, and more single player games like Uncharted were feeling too scripted. I only managed to find some fun during that time by sticking with indies and niche Japanese games.
Things have gotten better now. Shooters are fun again, franchises like Devil May Cry and NieR got brand new sequels that met our hype, and more games respect players' intelligence.
