| Drafting an RTS game, and looking to have a (anarcho)communist faction.

Are any of the commie gurls from /new/ around to give me some input?

Id like to make sure I dont make some stupid mistakes in representing the ideology.

"AnCom"is all about everyone having the same amount of property, as regulated by the other members of the community. The main goal is to remove the flaw of tradisional communism (lol) by removing the body that usualy monopolises the power(not at all ironic)

| Op tell us more about the game. Most RTS I can think of (StarCraft, AoE, the likes) focus on warfare, so political ideology is pretty whatever to the game.

Have a look on the VN game "Sunrider" by "Love in Space". They have a "communist" faction (PACT)

There are three possibilities how to portray commie-alike factions:
- Cold war/Nazist propaganda: anticommunist stereotypes like child eating evil doers that want to destroy humanity
- Nationalist dictatorship in disguise: everthing "the party" or the "prime leader" does and says is true. Even if it conflicts the goal of communism

| Thanks for all the help! Great input so far. I won't say much about the mechanics(yet), but each of the five factions is designed off of a different just war theory. I was trying to avoid having each faction fall into singualr gameplay styles, but still needed a general idea for each faction. The communist faction, Vox Populi, is based in justification of war by uprising against unjust government, or in this case the failure of yhe government.


| Basically, the previous United government made a major mistake that plunged the entire nation into a fight for survival. Vox Populi is based off of what I keep seeing in /news/ of the commie gurls there blaming the world wars on capitalism and them saying the inevitability of it happeneing again. As far as their portrayal, I intend for each faction to be portrayed as "correct" when playing it, and "incorrect" when playing any other faction.

The actual "politics" part is really just for overall design of each faction, and lore fluff in unit dialogue and style. The gameplay would sit somewhere between World in Conflict and C&C Generals. Again, not going to reveal too much on that front yet.

A communist/anarcho-communist society would have to either be very heavily isolated or it needs to span most of the world. Communism by definition cannot work unless the entire world accepts communism or at the very least a form of socialism that's close enough to it that economic incompatibility isn't a major problem.

Anarchy isn't about abolishing hierarchies, it's about abolishing UNJUST hierarchies.


| Let's say that in an anarchy, we want to destroy the concept of someone, ANYONE owning a house. A state-like structure can exist within an anarcho-communist like society if its goal is allowing a person to live in a house, maybe even for life, but disallowing and punishing the act of using that house as property to get "rent". Maybe the "rent" can't exist in the form of money(probably not a thing in communism) but in the form of a service.


| Honestly it's gonna be hard to represent communism or anarcho communism in a game without making it a bit boring, it's gonna be extremely isolated so no trade, and there's no internal currency either, so if you want to hurry the production of something specific, you have to adjust your entire plan to produce more of that per week/year/fiveyears.

"Communists" irl are really people that say they're going to ACHIEVE communism, so you go with the leaders being anarcoms and not society

You can do a few things with that idea- you can give the commies state capitalism like Lenin/Stalin/Mao, or you can give them a social democracy that's still based on capitalism but has many gears in place to ensure the free market is regulated so that the workers don't get fucking killed by their jobs, but still create internal/external rivalry.You can go overboard and give the socdems TOO many gears, but I'm too leftie to know what "too many" means


| Well, as this is a military RTS, not a 4x or sim game, the no-trade isnt an issue. The lack of internal currency works nicely, and the use of "production plans" has interesting applications. Thanks for the imput so far, and more is welcome. *might* ask around for the other factions in the future, though really this is the one that was givong me the most trouble.
