| I started with FF7 on the original PlayStation and still think it has one of the best stories in the series, so I usually tell newcomers to begin there. If you want the full picture, the pixel remasters of 1 through 6 are a great way to see where it all came from. Honestly though, any entry works as a starting point as long as you like that game's combat style.

I lean toward the calm mage/healer types while my friend always picks the reckless dragoon, it really says something about who you are. They're very decent retro rpgs that deserve the legacy they got. I don't know about the games after 10 though because that's where I stopped playing.

play Final Fantasy 6 if you like pixel graphics and an ensemble cast.
play Final Fantasy X if you want more modern graphics and voice acting.
play Final Fantasy 11 or 14 if you like MMO's.
play Final Fantasy Tactics if you like tactical turn-bassd grid combat.
