As you may already expect, this is about Monster Hunter: Wilds
The new lock-on aim feature takes all the fun out of the MH series. It makes your mistakes not nearly as bad when you miss an attack, or mistime a dodge or parry. As an avid greatsword user since MH2, I hate the new feature and have unbound it, and I suggest anyone who plays the game unbind it as well.
I do however like that you can have two weapons. I run my greatsword as primary, and a light bowgun as secondary.

But don't you need to use it to see which wounds to hit? I do agree that the games have gotten less punishing lately though.

I don't get the obsession with games having to be the same for each installment. I love the older style of MH but those games already exist. I can go play them whenever, and I do.

The aiming feature is the sole reason why i never bought a Monster Hunter till wilds. "So and so makes it less punishing" yeah, it's called a "quality of life upgrade" that gives you more control over your character and makes the controls more intuitive. If you wanna keep the game as punishing as it was originally intended, you should also go back to Tank controls, as the modern movement makes it waaaaays less punishing and easier

>>1051477 Extremely valid. It's also just, fun? As much as I love the old ones, dashing around and pulling off cool shit by changing direction mid-attack and hitting focus strikes is just really fun People also over hype the challenge of older ones. If you understand the basic controls they're not that challenging. They're just slower, which is really chill, but doesn't make them inherently difficult. I think a lot of fans just played them as a kid and remember them as way harder
