I looove obscure games with weird mechanics. Some faves include Arx Fatalis, Evergrace, Cruelty Squad, Caves of Qud, Morrowind (not obscure but still has weird mechanics), and Lunacid.

Voices of the Void might not exactly have "weird mechanics" but I'd call it a pretty good obscure game. The less you know about it the better, but at least you should know the genre which is Cozy Horror!

Peep Psychopomp Gold, Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead, and Pseudoregalia

>>1045152 also check out Moonring. It’s free and reminiscent of the early ultima games. Kenshi’s dope. If you like fast paced arena shooters Ultrakill is orgasmic

>>1045152 I actually have all of these! Haven't gotten into Psychopomp yet, cataclysm just wasn't really my thing as cool as it seems. I just can't figure out wtf I'm supposed to so lol. And Pseudoregalia I reallllly wanna play but there's a weird niche issue with my graphics drivers that prevents me from playing for now cause it's integrated graphics ;-; I should be able to after I get a new card.

>>1045153 have played all of these! In fact I even posted abt moonring on here a long time ago. Kenshi and Ultrakill are SO good.

>>1045026 Love that I got clowned for Wooden Ocean posting enough to where I don't have to put it in threads myself anymore lmao
I'll throw in Disillusion and the sequel. Probably not where you wanna go for "gameplay", but the atmosphere and aesthetics are one of a kind Wooden Ocean is my main rec though, recently started my 10th or so playthrough after some big updates and it's been great

>>1045261 You have damn good taste. Okay, one last try from me since you know everything I mentioned: I started playing the demo for an indie immersive sim called Peripeteia today. It just entered early access. It’s far from finished, but if Cruelty Squad and EYE are your cup of tea you will likely enjoy it. The first level is huge, it’s got that eurojank stank all over it, and the vibes are immaculate. Also you’re a cool cyborg girl in a cyberpunk post-soviet Poland.

I got high hopes for Peripeteia, it's gonna be goat of all time. Goty of the Year!

OP try Northern Journey!! It has the same sort of early console look and feel. It's more like doom or half-life than an immersive sim, but the weapons and vibe are pretty unique!

>>1045412 Northern Journey is such a gem but I wouldn't claim it has weird mechanics or anything because it's a pretty straight forward exploration shooter.
Good recommendation though, you have good taste.

i wouldnt say its a game with weird or even innovative mechanics, but if you want obscure, i recommend LISA The Painful RPG.

>>1046608 I'll throw in two more then Super Lesbian Animal RPG I haven't played that much of yet, but seems to be really well written with somewhat basic combat. More on the comfy cutesy side of things, though it might delve into heavier topics later on, not sure
Ark's Wonder Dungeon is like the opposite. Gameplay first and kinda edgy. Very unique run based dungeon crawler with very solid mechanics, though if you're sensitive to bad mental disorder portrayals then maybe stay clear

Oh yeah and a positive for both of them is the art styles, very good aesthetics on them. Can't say I recommend them as highly as my previous recs, but both have strong "if it's your thing it's extremely your thing" potential. I know people with great taste who are obsessed with both of them
