Now since we're already talking about Wocean, the altars of suffering update dropped, making it so higher difficulties force you to choose permanent modifiers for your run that will make the game harder, so now it's time for another playthrough!!

Perfect description of Wocean honestly. Both the story and game design feels like schizophrenic scribblings on a wall and that's exactly why I love it. Up until recently it wasn't even really being designed with players in mind. It was just him smearing his brain all over RPG Maker for a couple hours after work every day as a way to de-stress. I heavily relate to that though and have the exact right mental disorders to find lots of personal meaning in that type of chaos
