I just got Caves of Qud, and somehow I've already got 17hrs in it. This is so addictive wtff I love filling out a character sheet and play the early game of an RPG and get me a build I really like and then die to a bush with a landmine or some cretur with a shotgun after taking a singular step after entering a place The atmosphere is incredible and I unironically love how small it makes you feel, like you really are just some random person in an endless world

I like Caves of Qud but I just can't really get to it. I've done a few runs, and I cans see what they're going for, it just hasn't clicked for me... I should give it another try.

>>1032685 It probably isn't for everyone, but I will say it did take me a little while before it clicked for me. It kinda runs opposite to conventional game design in some ways. It prioritises the world over everything else. Like, most quests are just the same 3 quests with the location and the thing you're interacting with/fetching being randomly generated, but they're not supposed to be anything more, cause that's all you need to oush you to go and interact with the world

*push you I would need several paragraphs to describe it properly, so I won't, but basically every part of the game in some way is there to push you to interact with the world itself, both mechanically and in uncovering lore and stuff, over, like, making perfect sense or having a traditional story
