Hi g/u/rls, I'm learning Italian and I saw online that playing games with plenty and easy enough vocabulary like Pokemon for example, are good games that can help with language learning, I also saw some VR games that focus specifically in language learning, I would like to know if you know any more games that could fit in that category and if you can share any language learning tips of your own!

hm, well you can play one of your favorite games in what language you wanna learn. Since you will be reading the text you already memorized may prove useful. For the actual question I am interested to know too.

Minecraft is good for language learning if you can read the languages text. It was a bit better for it back when most of the objects were real things, but you can still get reinforcement for things like wood, stone, door, sheep, bowl etc.

I'd say any game that's good for children, but I can't think of any beside Nintendo games.
Aside from that, maybe those with more daily life/school setting? I've heard Tokimeki Memorial is really good for Japanese (but only Japanese).

>>1029700 playing games aimed at being child adv games are pretty fun for learning new languages. I mean the whole point of them is get kids to draw associations with words in their native language to objects and concepts in a fun way.
Can vouche that both My-sims, My-sims kingdom for both DS/wii and scribblenauts are good at doing this.

An idea I've always had but never put into practice was to open two emulators with the same game in different languages and play them simultaneously so you have the text in your native language and the language you're trying to learn. It would work for Ace Attorney for the DS, but not for games with rng elements which is most of them, sadly. If you have a second monitor you can probably do this with every vn that has an Italian translation (I assume there's plenty)
