What games do you play if you've been stressed and want to decompress? What games do you play when you're sick or burnt out? What games do you play on a nice and slow day under a blankie?

It's been ages but the Papa's restaurant flash games are still so comfy to me. They're still available in the dev's website, perfectly playable with Ruffle. https://www.flipline.com/games.html
Also I guess I still fall back to The Sims when things get dire.

The last time I was feeling really bad I used to listen to southern european Doom/Stoner Metal while playing heavily modded open world games but most of the time my gotos are Civilisation and Stardew Valley.

Skyrim and more recently Morrowind have been great comfort games. Morrowind especially is a contemplative experience so when I'm anxious for no good reason it gives me enough to think about while still being calming.
The last week or so I've started playing No Man's Sky before bed and its also very calming. Super easy, just pretty worlds and easily accomplished goals with slow and steady progress.

Demoncrawl is a good one for keeping neurons firing while dissociating with reality. Idly chatting in FFXIV is always cozy. When I'm feeling super down I start a new file in one of the gen 5 or gen 7 pokemon games.

It used to be R6 before they fucked up the matchmaking and I was basically stockholm syndroming myself to keep playing for 2 more years after that before I uninstalled. It sucks because there aren't any other good comp shooters anymore except for the dying boomer shooter scene.

As weird as they are for relaxation, Dark Souls 1&2. They're games I have memorized to almost every little detail and they're just such charming fascinating worlds to explore. I feel so at ease just waltzing through and taking it all in. It helps that I'm goated after beating them 20+ times and don't have much trouble. I'd probably be a lot more on edge if I was getting frustrated dying a lot.

>>1028944 Same g/u/rl!! I'm pretty bad at DS2, but DS1 is a big comfort game for me and DS2 most likely will be too the day I learn it properly

Monster Hunter. Letting people carry me while I get more crafting materials is such a pleasant feeling. I don't put as much thought into this game other than what do I want to craft.

I think Starbound is my most comfort game. It's a shame that the game stopped updating back in 2019. I fucking love this game

On days that are: Stressful: Used to play Apex, but I grew too competitive. Now I'm playing this old ass game called Day of Defeat. Sick: Slept on my bed and played whatever's on my Vita. Slow: Catching up with some Arknights lore because holy shit there's a lot of quality lore.
