If you don't mind the anime and gacha parts, then absolutely Mahjong Soul, since it's arguably the most popular online mahjong platform out there. Supplement the in-game tutorial with some good videos or articles and just play.
By the way, I'm assuming that you mean Riichi Mahjong, since it's probably one of the more popular variations.

| Almost forgot the most important part of online mahjong, DO NOT under any circumstance vent about the game even if it's true! Especially cilent site or any non direct mahjong gameplay related, treat everything as if you're play on a table or mahjong purist will digitally rape you! Also say you won't play tenhou is a good conversation starter :)

I simply use inspect element to make it look like I earn loads of money in every gambling game, and spend the savings on my happy pretty gurl life and all my cool successful friends and the fun things we do together outside in exotic places!
