So this g/u/rl wants to vtube and I've already spent a few days makin and rigging a model and all that. But like... what do vtubers even do most of the time? Should I play games? Or just chat? Watch vids? Help me out here!

You'd think that what they do, but actually you just need to be depressed on your social media site of choice and voila! You're now part of the community *patchi* *patchi*

I think to actually be successful in Vtubing (or any business venture for that matter) you'll have to find a specific niche that your audience can't find elsewhere. I got into vtube because of Vedal's Neuro-Sama streams, for instance.

Thank you both for the help! I won't forget about you g/u/rls when I hit the big leagues :,)

Mmm. A few years ago, vtubing itself used to be the niche. But it's grown so big that you've gotta find your own subniche now. It's also good to keep in mind that you can stream 24 hours a day for 7 days a week but if you don't have any content to direct people to your stream, it will all be for naught. Pushing out videos and shorts is imperative! As far as niches go, GFE and ASMR are always in demand if you don't mind selling a part of your soul wwww.

There's a few g/u/rls who also might be able to help you out. I know Danger/u/ has it's very own v-idol called /d/loli, who is affiliated with Internet Idols Prod. (a small group of vtuber/PNGtuber friends). Additionally, there's a g/u/rl who offers certain resources to g/u/rls starting stuff (especially if it's /u/ adjacent). I'd send a message or link to this thread in the anime channel on the Discord if I were you. :3

>>988953 This is great advice right here. Do some extra stuff on the side to attract viewers like YouTube videos, tiktoks, and shorts. Streaming on it's own doesn't attract a lot of people

>>3dd97e Just do what you like. If you want to play, stream the game. If you want to talk, start a conversation stream. An unexpected creative impulse - a stream with drawing/modeling, etc. The main thing is your charisma and people will be drawn to you

>>989027 I mean, indies are still blowing up every day. There's still lots of opportunity, but it does get more difficult every year as the market saturates further.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pujbCHmXxE good vid But I guess you should probably just experiment with different types of content. As they say, learn the fundies before you try and make a style. You don't want to cater niche your not sure you even want.

>>989062 thats actually really good that you wont be trying to do it for money, money should only be an afterthought if it starts going really good, otherwise youre going to be disappointed. And please don't quit your job for it like other people have done then ended up broke

You can do pretty much any virtual content as a vtuber. Hell, asahi lina literally just codes in her streams and she gets ~150 viewers
