Wtf are wrong with you guys

| Why do I see so many Americans whining about landlords and rents? Do you think you have the right to live in other people's houses for free? what the fuck

|
I mean yeah, I don't know what Goes into the pricing beyond basic talking points like:
"big tech/upper middle class moving in and they want to capitalize on it."
But I think this argument is a little silly:
The Bus Fare is 100$ per month
" Oh so do you expect to ride it for free?"
" No I just want it to cost less"
I think it's just context, If you've always paid 15 dollars for a pair of jeans, you won't see the merit in paying 100$ for one.

Average monthly income where I live in $2400 before taxes. After taxes is more like $1800~

Average costs of an apartment is around or higher than $1500.

I'm sure you can figure out why this math is a problem. According to the gubmint rent should be 1/3 of your gross income, but almost no one is renting for under $1000 for even the smallest single room.

| >>965809
Addendum: Landlords are fucking assholes. The last place I was at had a bunch of idiots who couldn't handle basic math running the place, and a maintenance crew that wouldn't do their job if they could make an excuse to no. Landlords on the whole will do whatever they can to dick you over no matter how good a tenant you are(they assume they get to keep your security deposit, for example) and won't help when your neighbors are violating the lease by blasting music at 2am.

| >>965809

But the owner of the house has the right to decide the amount of rent as he sees fit. I agree that rental prices are absurd but that doesn't change the fact that it is the landlord's right to put the amount that suits him. I just don't understand this hatred and saying that landlords are parasites. If I want to enjoy something that belongs to someone else, it's fair to pay for it. It looks like people wanna a roof over they heads for free

| >>965805 this, the same space costing 40% more every 6 months is not reflective of real improvements to the building; just price gouging. Such price gouging is getting harder and harder to avoid when corporate landlords are paying above asking price for everything that's selling and then literally everyone is using the same piece of pricing software to decide rent. A single piece of software has monopolized rent prices.

>>965809 this too, though that's more a stagnant wages issue.

| >>965811 Can you name a service that landlords provide that couldn't be performed by their renters? They're called leeches cause they insert themselves into home-owning while providing no new service, and then they suck away profits (from the people actually using the space) for themselves.

| There is also the issue of a lack of low-end, affordable quality housing in the USA.

| Just go the Asian ways, stay with your parents, until yoi get kicked out or can afford mortgage

| >>965811
Ok, so what do you do then when a bunch of rich fucks buy up all the property, then charge absurd rents? It's their right, after all?
>It looks like people wanna a roof over they heads for free
They want a fair deal.
>landlords are parasites
Landlords make money by doing nothing, and will try to scam you at every turn. What are they if not parasites?

| >>965826
Landlords also drive up prices of houses making it harder for those who don't want to rent to buy. The price of a used house is okish condition is about the same as just having new house built from scratch, because landlords and house flippers will scoop them up to try and grift people with them.

| R E N T F REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

| >>965798
Me when when rentoid is not paying the tip

| Op dummy head who can't consider more factors than
>Open market
>That means complaint invalid

Everyone needs a roof over their head, apartments near where I live are basically the same cost as renting a whole ass house which is basically the same as getting a mortgage minus the down payment

| It's bad enough that college near me bought an entire street of houses so they could charge more fair rent for the people who want to live there

| ^ they only allow students though

| >>965846
>>965847
>>965848
Rent is due (dont forget the tip)

| Landlords collude to make rent as expensive as they can legally get away with and hide behind an LLC so you can't find out who actually owns the building and will ignore any ask to fix their appliances despite the fact that they have to. On top of all of this they will fight you tooth and nail no matter what to steal your deposit

| shut the fuck up

1. people work like two+ jobs and cant afford jacked up, uncontrolled rent
2. you dont know shit about the state of the housing market, the recession and collapse since 08, Blackrock etc
3. rent shouldnt exist

| >>965818
Yes, owning a house?
It's not necessarily a service but she temporarily gives you something that's hers for a price. If landlords in your country collude to keep prices high, you should demand that your government do something about it. Anyway, it might even be immoral to manipulate prices in this way, but nobody is doing anything wrong. Parasite is those who like to enjoy what is not theirs and do not want to pay.

| >>965868
"Rent shouldnt exist" let some people live in your house for free then, seems like youre the parasite.
No wonder why your country is fucked

| >>965869
>immoral
>not doing anything wrong
Lmao, the mental gymnastics

| This has either got to be bait, or OP is a teenager who's never had to pay rent.

| Man I don't get bait culture. Is it just apolitical equivalent of identifying as a black actress who pilots a apache and getting mentally unwell people mad.

I wish I was less autistic to enjoy this shit.

| >>965869 I'm so glad we found a place with a landlord, now we can pay more than the monthly mortgage and be threatened with sudden homelessness if we ask for maintenance! I was worried we'd have control over our lives.

You think the renters couldn't own where they live? When by definition the monthly mortgage payments are cheaper than rent? The only reason it's not an option is cause someone hoarded more homes than they can use and decided to roleplay as a feudal-era lord LOL

| Anyways I'm done eating this bait. OP has only replied to the weaker points laid out and is either willfully ignorant of life in the US or a landlord trying to gauge their (un)popularity

| >>965870
lmao im not USian loser

and yes

people should not have to pay for housing
people should not have to pay to not die of the elements
people should not own more than one hone, and there should be a domicile for each person/family

and if your response is to be weirdly cruel and pretend that "someone" somehow needs to get paid idk go fuck yourself because no

housing should not be used for profit lmao thats basic level humane civility

cunts like you are a cancer on society

| It should not be legal to own more than one house if you don't have a necessity for more

| >>965798 we actually have many mental issues to talk before pointing at our life decisions and how the hell we're alive.

| >>965912
Actually it's down payment and credit that gets in the way more than availability of houses. almost impossible to save money when you're constantly struggling to pay bills.
>>965929
I think it should be allowed but the tax rate on the second home should go way up. The rate on a single home is 3%~ here, so if the second home was 30%, then it would be fine.

| >>965927
youre the one here saying that everyone is entitled to free things, the one here defending the attitude of consuming what belongs to others without producing anything. If you want a good home, a decent life, the least you can do is give something in return. Its not because two unfortunate people had sex and another like you was born that the world has an obligation to give you things. Do you know what you like to receive without giving anything in return? A parasite

| From what I understand, what is happening in your country is a clear form of market manipulation, as if they had come together to raise the prices of all houses. I saw that this problem mainly affects the city of New York, probably that someone even pays 1000$ to live in a cardboard box there. In my country we don't have this problem but I can understand your hate. I apologize for my insensitive comments and ignorance.

| >>965869 I'm not saying rent shouldn't exist I'm saying rent shouldn't be as high as it is. And I think people who say no rent ever are just not as informed on the issue. Like I said before landlords collude, that is factual, however thanks to the fact it's a third party website that gives them the information it's not actual colluding. So the government won't act off that.

| Also houses aren't free from these same types of issues as HOA are still basically your landlord even if you have paid in full for your house and home. You can still have to "pay rent" property taxes and whatever fee your HOA forces you to pay, because if you don't they have the legal right to auction off your home without your knowledge. There was even a case of one HOA doing that for (I think it was a cent but realistically it was probably a dollar)
