Student Loans Make Me Want to Kill Myself

| Now before anyone gets too excited, I'm not going to do it, at least not in the short term. I have obligations to my family that I continue living.

But I was born in the U.S. and made the mistake of attending a university and getting a shit degree. Now, even though i work a job I could only have gotten with a degree, I am barely feeding myself and in a few months I'll have to pay even more.

| I know the g/u/rls are from all over the world, but are any of you in the same boat?

I just feel like I'm being kept at the minimal level of survival and the numbers show that things aren't going to get better baring some miraculous luck.

Anyway, thanks for reading g/u/rls.

I post therefore I am.

| Good thing I skipped college lolw

| I agree, fuck canada

| Just end it

| just switch your loans to private and then stop paying them or go on a good faith repayment program

I ended up going into a trade job. Sadly not one I can take to many other places, but the pay is about as good as it gets and the raises are guaranteed thanks to the union, so I'm not worried about paying off my loans atm. It's wild to me how little jobs pay, because while I'm comfortable right now, Im not exactly thriving and I'm making over $20/hr. Hopefully wages will go up, because they really need to.

| >>962181 cost of living for the past few decades has risen significantly more than wages have, and that's how it will continue to be.

Get into a unionized job, gurl. Better wages and better job security(there are some people at my job who are literally so incompetent they cannot perform their duties correctly, but the company can't fire them - as long as you work, you're untouchable).

The alternative is to get an SO or other partner to go halfsies with on big bills like rent.

| Not from a country with student loan here, how does it work? Do you gurl just look at how joe and jack across the street got the loan and agree to it? Like you don't look at the amount and calculate how much it will take to pay the loan with average salary of the job you are aiming for?

A lot of colleges misrepresent how much it will cost + many will not hit the pay grade the college leads them to believe they will.
