On eras moving fast (con'td)

| I'm OP from that one thread. It seems the thread itself closed (How long before that happens, a week? I'm new here.)

Anyway an anon said something interesting

"let me try to start it up with a take.
"People are not living in the present but like to look at the past like a king looks at their naive population, it's so simple"g:"

What do you mean by this, guy? The oversimplification inherent to a human's faulty memory, or something else?

| not that g/u/rl, but perhaps they mean something like ' compared to the past generations, the present is full pf bountiful riches.' we have devices that can turn our homes any temperature, our furniture is amazingly soft, we have cheap and bountiful spices that would make previous eras weep with envy. there exists healthcare that would sem miraculous, and we can circle the world in mere hours. And don't get me started on computers!
access to these things has never been greater.

| not that g/u/rl either, but in short:
only those who have no future look towards the past

| on your mom moving fast (cont'd)

| I suppose. You guys are right. But at the same time, doesn't possessing all these things lead to kind of patheticness, not to mention rampant materialism?
A certain lack of tranquility, in general. That overwhelming 'I've got to have my comfort' feeling, which makes kids throw tantrums at not getting the latest toy, or makes people sell off a friend to get ahead. Even today there are people who sell off their riches so they can emulate ancient lifestyles.
