| basically, it has the potential to fabricate *anything* digital. Art, conversations, porn, music, movies, news, you name it. It can, with some human direction, make a competent copy of anything non-physical. Let that sink in.
It will seriously mess things up for everyone for at least a generation.
The good news is we're still in the early stages, and can get a handle on things before it gets too bad.
| I don't think it's an overreaction to say that the AI-era has begun and we're living trough the dawn of it. It'll lead to a lot of troubles, especially when it comes to evidence in courtrooms or political manipulation.
There's an open source version called LLaMA-13B that you can run on cheap hardware if you want to learn more about what they do and how they work.

| It's fairly harmless, some concern that I get are
-Using chatgpt to make fake social media status update, basically make bot accounts looks like they have life and then use said bot accounts for brigading or influence election
-Some idiots takes the chat seriously and harm themselves
-People entering art/writing contest using AI assistance works
I've tested it and links a snakeoil salesman linkedin page to a chatbot and the bots can deduct that the guy is not legit.
| I don't mind if companies are using AI as art generator/ tech support, as long as they are open with it and there's human curating/monitoring the result.
No problem with porn either, since it is just like writing fiction with extra steps and more variations. Who's stoping gurls from opening a notepad and typing about being pegged by linux gf?
