I really hate this mainstream media/internet culture of shaming people for the accusations they receive without even knowing the full story.
people just jump to conclusions, starts virtue signalling and then everyone who says otherwise either gets shamed as well, or cancelled beyond recognition

I've watched this unfold on the recent Rex Orange County allegations.
People just started saying "If you listen to ROC, you're an enabler" or some stupid shit like that, and even lifelong fans didn't hesitate to say they've dropped ROC and won't release their Spotify Wrapped because ROC was on it like everyone fucking cares who or what they're listening to.

And then when, all of the allegations are dropped and proven untrue, people just started clamoring again to ROC, saying I've always believed in you.
I know one person (a woman) who is a die hard fan, and when the whole internet was trashing on ROC, she dropped ROC and joined the trashing, posting on social media about how disgusting he was.
Then when the news broke out that he was innocent, she deleted all her prior posts and then go back to being a fan again

Of course, it isn't bad to side with the victims. That's what we should always do. But! Jumping to conclusions and making opinions based on other peoples opinion and blatant virtue signalling is just not good.
This culture is toxic.

Its a human tendency, not culture.

There is no good ending for you being mad at it.
>>7dcceb Tbh you're just as confused as the people you're hating on.

The problem? It's time consuming. Nobody gives a shit when they could have fun elsewhere by dealing with something "up"(down) to their entertainment level. Just ignore and move on. The common mass when acting as a single entity will do so.
