They would turn Lain into some goth girl who's characteristics are to point out what's going on around her instead of letting the world around her develop and have the viewers think critically of the show and its ideas.
i.e it would be extremely dumbed down.

They would never adapt Lain because it's "obscure" already in anime community. Higher chance is having Attack of Titans, Death Note, Tokyo Ghoul, Pokemon, Naruto, SAO or anything "mainstream". But secretly i wish if they would make some kind of reanimation, ova, movie (in anime form, something as Death Note: Rewrite) or maybe second season/spin-off if they had good idea for story. But i feel that it's hardly closed.

they get Rag'n'Bone Man - Human for the trailer music.
"After the events of the 1998 alternate timeline Lain(Ruby Rose) is a burned out drug addict, not sure of her past memories but now the past is returning as the world is no longer what it seems. Now it seems the company net time is building wired 3.0 as the sinister Marcus Zimmeberg(Benedict Cumberbatch)is behind it."
David Tennant plays the cybria kid grown up.
