Japanese gets a lot of words from Western languages, i can understand that they literally didint know bread until the Portuguese and so they borrowed "pão" and eventually integrated it as "Pan" but recetly i saw that "Sex" is "Sekkusu" I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THEY DIDINT HAVE A NATIVE WORD FOR THUS MOST BASIC THING, fr the most annoying of learning Japanese is when you know damn well there must be a native word but they just want to give you the loan one. How do you "Sex" in OG JP?

something along the lines of 性行為 in modern japanese, but it's akin to saying "sexual intercourse" instead of "sex" the archaic word for it would be 目合い (まぐわい)

I don't think sekkusu is used the same way that the word sex is used in English. Like someone can say "Let's have sex" but I don't think it works with Sekkusu, (Sekkusu suru, Sekkusu shiyou, etc.) I could be wrong but seeing as it's a loan word it may be used more in colloquial language or to translate terms from English or other languages.

As for a way to say sex in OG Japanese, there could be a number of ways stemming from the fact that there's the cultural difference from the west where people in Japan may use different terminology. Based on what I've heard in media (tv drama, movies, anime) using Ecchi as a verb (ex エッチしたい) or the word Daku (ex 抱いてほし) and even the word to sleep can be used (ex 一緒寝たいの?) But I think in general there's no one way. Anyway, thanks for coming to my TED talk o/

>>891109 Not Japanese but even though we have a few native words for sex, we also still use the English "sex". It just have a slightly different connotation.
Loan words in general can be ridiculous, especially when the language isn't the world standard like English is
