Is there a next plane of consciousness to travel to or is this all we have and it's just non existence, like before you were born. Or do you believe in reincarnation?

I believe that after death is nothingness. No feeling, no emotion, no thought, neither pain nor joy. In its own right, that might not be so bad.
Of course, I would pick life over death ten times out of ten, but it is inevitable. That's why I want to live a life that I will be satisfied with before I return to nothingness.

I can't comprehend eternity and I can't comprehend nothingness, so I don't want to try to think about the possibility of eternal nothingness. I like reincarnation best.

>After an elderly patient died suddenly during a routine test, scientists accidentally captured unique data on the activity in his brain at the very end of his life: During the 30 seconds before and after the man's heart stopped, his brain waves were remarkably similar to those seen during dreaming, memory recall and meditation, suggesting that people may actually see their life "flash before their eyes" when they die.

It's also scary that they have found periodic bursts of brain activity for *hours* after death and it's more common among people who have died of heart failure than any other cause of death.
The guess is that the brain is trying to start up the nervous system, but no one really knows why.
Scary stuff. Imagine flashing back into conciousness and realize that you're actually dead?!

After death there is nothing Not like a cool nothing, it's not even a thing you can experience. The light just turns off, your consciousness too.

Basically, Anubis administers a test in which your heart is put on a scale against the feather of Maat. If it balanced you are presented to Osiris and you may enter Sekhet-Aaru.

Sometimes I think there's more to life. You ever have those moments when you look at your hand and you feel eerily human? I've also had some interesting experiences on psilocybin. I've decided to learn more about theories related to life and death held by eastern cultures. They seem much different thst western.

There's definitely something. Heaven and reincarnation are not incompatible ideas

You become dirt, the Greeks were based for thinking that the earth was it. All this heaven stuff is just resentment for being alive
There's a term for it, but the name escapes me. It feels like disassociating and looking at your body and self in the third person... followed by the uncomfortable feeling of "what does it feel like to die?"

There is the concept solipsism, which is the uneasy feeling that you can never know that other consciousness exist.
I say that because any number of thing can happen after you die, including reanimation through brain scanning or reconstruction of human history. But you will never know whether your consciousness will return or that the lights stay out.
Also if reincarnation is real, I don't remember anything about my past life, so does it even matter?

I wish it was nothing, because if there is a good/bad afterlife, I'm gonna burn.
Though. It's prolly gonna be more fun to be in hell with all the sluts and druggies and such than in heaven with all those fuckin prudes, worshipping god for eternity, how pathetic. I'd rather burn with murderers and rapists and addicts than be so thoroughly subjugated up in his place.

>>891244 I think I'd be less afraid of death of I believed in reincarnation, no matter if I lost my memories.
>>891272 Well it's not like you'd be free to hang out with them. I suppose you'd be more occupied with being tortured. (I don't believe in hell)

>>891300 So you're saying it's fine to die knowing you'll get to reroll at life? Hmm, I like your style. Let's hang out together, on a bridge. It's gonna be a blast! Or rather, a "splash"!

>>891328 rather than it's fine to die, I would say more of a "don't be sad when your time comes"
But I don't believe in reincarnation so for now I'd rather keep on living.

>>890724 There's nothing. You just cease to be.
t: I was dead for about 5 minutes once. Obviously not brain dead or I wouldn't be here, but no breathing/no pulse/no pain response.
I'm not sure if that would be true death under the definition OP was going for- since your brain was still alive.

>>892000 Well, it's the circumstances most people are in when they claim to "see the light" or however you want to state it.
That's a lie. There's no evidence for an afterlife, or even the existence of a soul. They're just myths that exist to comfort people who can't handle reality.
This is it. This is everything. No second chances, no next life.

Id like to believe theres nonexistence after you die. But idk, a part of me believes that maybe theres more to experience after death. I recall before being able to vividly see everything the first thing i saw was a book under a spotlight sitting in a dark room. It opened up and filled up my field of view until i was in my living room as a simple baby walking around. Of course that could just be a dream but sometimes i think about why my life started out like that.
