There's just so many people saying so many positive things and how to become better people. So much advice on how to become a better person is usually said by people who were actually able to become the people they wanted to. Like, come on dude. We have at least 1 or 2 BILLION people who actually encourage all of us with how they became succesful (My estimation is probably that accurate but YOU GET WHAT I MEAN RIGHT? There is a LOT), but somehow, there are still so many people com-

-plaining about how this world is utterly useless and trash and a bunch of other stuff, like, THERE'S LIKE A BUNCH OF AMAZING PEOPLE WITH SUCH AMAZING AND INSPIRING BIOGRAPHIES, LIKE BILL GATES AND MANY OTHER SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE. Come on, you can always change. There are literally infinite possibilities in this world. All you need is determination and perseverance (and backup plans at some occasions). So, what I've been trying to say is is that this world ain't worthless and there-

-will always be a point in life. And if you don't feel like actually doing anything in your life besides watching anime all day, since it's the only thing you like, then go for it!!!!! If you feel like wanting to buy something but you can't afford it, USE DARN GOFUNDME AND EXPLAIN YOUR STORY THERE. In a tough situation? WIKIHOW. Maybe I've said enough. Call me whatever slur/insult you want to anybody who disagrees with this. I just wanted to send a message. Btw, I don't go on this-

I fucking hate the internet's obsession with self improvement. It's just a shitty fake cycle. People around you brag about making money? about being strong and smart? about being inspirational? Damn that must mean you gotta catch up with them! So you spend money on gyms and supplements and garbage and you catch up to other people, and you work all day every damn day to get there, and never enjoy life, just compete. Then finally you get on top and congratulations! now it's your

turn to brag. and then finally you get the LIKES and REDDIT KARMA and nobody actually gives a shit because you're all competing with each other.

in my opinion there's no reason to do most of the self improvement shit because you're just changing yourself in response to a world that wants to use you as a resource, not changing your situation. I'll never get inspired by people who brag about having power I never wanted.
tl;dr I used to go to a gym because of peer pressure. now I go so I'm strong enough to manhandle Elon Musk out of an airlock during the martian revolution.

That's the main issue, people doing what they think will make them happy then realising it doesn't completely fulfil them. They're parents sucked or were absent and forgot to add meaning.
We used to have Jesus which doesn't work anymore but anime is a poor substitute if you're social apt and know there's more to life then binge watching shitty shows is slow suicide.

any real self improvement which actually works for ordinary people will inevitably entail unlearning this kind of "success" mentality and instead learning how to do your part in the class war so we can fight to improve our conditions of life

>>80ca78 not class war but forgetting your petty problems and finding yourself in a community is pretty important.

Correlating happiness directly with financial success is a failure in moral self-improvement. Reasonably attainable careers that generate high income tend to be those that detract from overall satisfaction in life, often through arduous work or work that takes away an unhealthy amount of your time. Those that do have a healthy balance of everything are not typically reasonably attainable without incredible luck or inherited fortune.
