Habits u grew after living alone

| Gonna move out and live alone for college soon, can't wait to be able to just not wear pants inside the house. Curious about what habits you g/u/rls grew after living alone.

| I moved away for college last year and not being home has taught me that there's no one that's gonna do things for you, since you're alone now, you have to get up and clean the house and buy food and not just wait for it to happen.

I used to not really clean things up and just wait for my parents to do it but now I sort of obsessively clean my room, and everytime I go back home I do the same, I'm kinda glad it happened.

| Nothing much changed I guess, I just started to cook myself more often

| I didn't live alone for long, but when I did, I gained three habits that stuck.
First was not wearing shirts when I'm at home. I now also do this when I'm at friend's houses for days at a time.
Second was using the same five dishes exclusively, only washing them just before reusing them. Kinda gross when they sit, don't make that habit.
Third was talking to myself, singing, and whistling. It's a lot easier to make noise when you aren't concerned about others being annoyed.

1) Make sure you eat a minimum of twice a day. Skipping meals makes you weak and sleepier, and worsens your mood, which in turn makes you less hungry. It becomes a vicious cycle.

2) If its safe to do so, go outside from time to time or at least open the windows in your house. It can be tempting to super isolate since you literally have a place by yourself, but most people will start to go a bit crazy from the darkness and the isolation. Also the air in your dwelling gets rank because the air isn't being cycled.

3) Buying food and cooking is almost always cheaper and healthier than premade fast garbage or cafeteria crap, but it is time consuming. If you wanna try your hand at it, focus on food that can be prepared beforehand, lasts well (at least a day or two) in the fridge, or only needs to be assembled. Protip: when making sandwiches, never add the sauce/liquid portion and leave it alone. It'll soak into the bread and make it spoil quicker. Do that just right before you eat.

Also mayo makes everything taste better.

4) Join clubs or something and make friends. Doing an activity that you enjoy with strangers is the quickest way to make friends.

| one that I had to get rid of was skipping breakfast. waiting until I'm hungry to eat makes me start conserving energy, which means I eat less again, and then downward spiral until I'm starving and then overeat. but eating breakfast means I have the energy to go get more food, and I don't have to spend a couple hours hungry each day. god I fucking love breakfast.

| Not wearing clothes, or only wearing something loose and comfy like a robe. Gotta keep a big shirt by the door, don't want to flash the delivery people.

big mood, sometimes i just ate a large breakfast and was good for most of the day until evening.

| Zk

| Eat in a standing position.

| Peeing into the bathtub and shitting into the sink

| Pro tip: Blend everything into a purée and freeze in ice trays. I learned this after years of buying greens to literally just rot in the fridge. Buy a bunch of kale and spinach, purée it and use the cubes to add to smoothies, beans, soup, rice, anything- adds a nice hit of nutrients and stands the test of time.

You can also purée roasted chopped cauliflower, red peppers, onion, carrots, squash etc. Also works great for herbs that comes in large bundles, like cilantro and parsley.

| dressing like a complete slut at home

| With onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, I like to cut up more than a meal—sometimes 3 or 4—and then put them in baggies. Pizza: throw on some pre-cut veggies. Spaghetti: Onions on my brat. Rice: Simple veggie medley. Saves on a ton of dishes and makes prep a snap.

| when the next day is an off day, sleeping through the day and staying awake through the night. since no one was there to stop me, pretty sure my circadian rhythm was fucked

also reusing the same plate more than 3 times in a row without washing. just because you like cooking doesn't mean you don't have to wash up. but at least I always washed the pan

If all I've done is use the plate to carry a sandwich or something equally non-messy, it's not a dirty plate.

| Same if I've just been drinking water out of a glass. I'll use it for a couple days before I wash it

| You have to buy dickwasher and fill up it with chili sous
