It never occurred to me before, but one day I was talking to my friends about art commissions. I got to thinking, would it be beneficial to pretend you have like 3/5 commissions in queue to make it seem like people are buying your art? That your art is in demand? Maybe post a few personal works and claim that they are "commissions"? Is that something artists do?

To take it a step further and put it more into the scammy territory, when your pretend queue is full, could you say 'oh my queue is full' to someone who wants a commission, but then charge extra if they want in anyway and if they can't wait

Speaking as someone who occassionally (maybe like once a year) commission artists, I don't think people who'd commission care about artists being "in demand".
Lying like that would be a shitty thing to do either way imho

Aside from no blatant tracing, you can manage your art commissions however you want. I charge extra for customers I despise, usually because they take up too much time and otherwise cause issues

Generally speaking, there is a psychological (or maybe economical?) effect of making something scarce to give it more value. Its an idea but you ought to rely on ur conscience whether its good or bad to do that

>>861567 This too. If I got two choices and one of them has empty queue and the other already has three in the queue, I'll go with the empty one.
Why go with the longer wait?
