| the next thing that upgraded were the banners. first there were a bunch of new ones. then, they started getting more and more complex, including sound and then animation. these were based on mostly shonen anime and were really pretty impressive pieces of art, but you had to watch it for like five seconds every time you loaded a board. it culminated in an upgrade for the board menu that tranformed it into a full remake of a menu for an NES Berserk game which looked fucking sick tbh
| but none of the buttons had had their text changed to match the website so it was literally unusable and you pretty much just went to a board at random. this was a disaster that was compounded by the fact that there were like ten new boards by that time.
| after that, the next thing that happened was that we got a login button. you could only sign in by connecting your imgur account. my imgur account is connected to my google account so I had to sign in, but it said I needed to update my *credit card information* as my old one had expired. I guess my brain remembered some old version of the google UI cause that shit looked SKETCH and not even my dream self was stupid enough to do that.
| so, I did some work around I don't remember, but eventually I did manage to sign in. but to sign in, you had to watch video ads and answer market research surveys. it was a fucking disaster.
after that, I bitched about the tech problems to my dad and he helped me find the noisiest desk in the house so I could slam it in frustration like von Karma in from Pheonix Wright. then I woke up.
| the total time it took pref to release all this was four hours, and it updated gradually, like he had made them all one-by-one during those four hours, which would have been a crazy feat of programming tbh.

| just had a dream about this website getting UPGRADED.
the first thing that happened were new boards showed up. the first was /el/ which was the previously secret gay board (the el was short for elon musk, who was our ironic replacement for billy herrington (gachibass guy)). I couldn't keep track of the others though, because there were at least six new ones released gradually over an hour.
