About three years ago it was ok. About two years ago it started getting less bearable. Now all I see is anons screaming or yelling at eachother for every little thing. What's with that attitude? Am I seriously the dinosaur here? I honestly see no point in this website if it's just going to be a text only version of 4chan. I guess we didn't gatekeep hard enough and now suffer consequences.

Niche website no longer niche

There was this thing that I forgot what it's called but basically when a place welcomes everyone eventually only the bad people stayed because they never expected niceness while the good people gets driven away. So, yes.

This happens sometimes. The mean people will go away in a few months.

I also think the anon life just isn't for everyone.
I know at least 3 groups of people who made friends here, form outside connection, then leave the place for good.
A few also have come to ask guidance about their internet career, then left after finding their digital life elsewhere.
So in the end the people who stayed behind are the people who acclimated to talking to faceless nameless strangers and don't mind trolls. If that doesn't scream "weirdo" we're raised differently.

is it really that much different than before? I don't feel like it is. three years ago we were having flame wars and needed a captcha, if anything that was worse.

I feel like it was better before too. It wasn't, like, great, but it was different. Like, the toxicity here switched from calling someone a retard on occasion to just straight up bigotry and taking the most minor disagreement and blowing it ridiculously out of proportions. But, I mean, shir like this has happened before. It comes in periods, amd when maids are back from their break it'll probably improve rapidly.

This site was very charming 3 years ago or so. Nowadays you can hardly show any positive emotions without having your thread derailed by some miserable weirdo.
>>853903 I agree. It wasn't great, but it was different. Lika a comfy oasis in a desert of other shitty text/imageboards.

Well I have bad news.
I just checked the calendar, and the "good old times" were actually 5 years ago for me.
Damn, I'm old. Wait that's not the point.
If the "good times" were only 3 years ago for you... that means... are we stuck in a loop?
I mean tbh 1 MONTH ago this place was nicer. I won't even mention the assholes because it will feed them. unless I'm a maid, I can't invoke fear on them.
In summary, you guys came at a bad time.

I dunno, some days I laugh so much my cheeks hurt. Guess I'm picky about fishy thread titles and I never go in /new/.

I briefly went on the site back in like 2017 or 2018 and I don't remember it being significantly different from how it is now other than the perpetual propaganda flame war that's on /new/.

I don't think it's more toxic. That stuff is mainly contained in /new/ with little leakage outside of that. I guess the only major shift is that the vibe of the people changed from novel pre-porn ban Tumblr users to generic Discord users, but that's a shift a lot of g/u/rls brush off as being a pessimist--as if the disappearance of drawthreads and the drop in activity in /cyb/ meant nothing whatsoever--but communities can't stay new, unique, and true to their roots forever I guess.

>>854076 I feel like that's happened everywhere on the internet. The tumblr porn ban was truly the end of the good times.

>>853791 it's textboard, not forum.. forum usually have profiles, profile picture, "level system", nicknames etc.
Btw. 4chan is having closer to danger/u/ than forum.. but i don't feel that people would scream each other than usual

to add to all, im sure there are enough people just lurking
ive been a "regular" for the past 4 years or so and rarely posted, mainly because I didn't have anything to add or didn't want to get involved into drama thats already plenty on social media
and im sure that I'm not the only one with that mindset

I miss the day when the website was so badly coded you can go to " " threads in each boards which has no post limit and the original colorfag experimented a lot.
Speaking of the original colorfag, remember when they experimented with posting an edited burg image, and got mistaken as a mod? Maids weren't even a thing back then.
Well, just wanted to talk about the original colorfag for no reason I guess.
