I mean, so can any other person around. If anything the popularity of vtubers (not to mention the whole show business aspect) means that you aren't likely to have insightful conversations with them. They aren't replying to you, at best they're replying to the faceless words you wrote.
Admittedly, that's hardly a thing exclusive to vtubers, but it's prevalent enough in the trend to be considered.

No, you probably just want to watch anime.
There is a difference between wanting to watch anime and liking anime character.

- Gambling to obtain your favorite PNG (yes, "anime" girl doesn't have to come from anime. A lot of anime do have tie-in mobile game though, or collab with a mobile game)
- Buying statues to display, touch, or cover in bodily fluid
- Sleeping with a pillow depicting anime girl
- Simply liking fanmade artworks like a financially healthy individual
You don't need to do any of these or watch vtubers and keep watching anime instead.
