Why are old HTML websites so creepy?

| It’s like an uncanny valley feeling but for internet media…

| >>842342 what kind of website for example? Can it be because of old css standarts?

| T. Zoomer

| The 1996 space jam website looks nice. Looks nostalgic to me, but it does remind me of cults a little

| >>842342
by creepy you mean SOVL?

| I always found old web 1.0 HTML pages have a really comfy, sincere, personal feeling to them. It's the modern major websites full of people lying to you, curated by opaque algorithms that I find creepy.

| >>842388 Couldn't agree more

| I find them a bit eerie, like the feeling of liminal spaces.

| >>842343 >>842377 more like those websites that are rare finds, lots of unused space talking about some obscure topic, or based on something random.

| >>842401 yeah exactly something like this

-OP

| >>842401 >>842413
I SEE DEAD WEBSITES

| >>842424
I'M ON A DEAD WEBSITE RIGHT NOW
It's a good thing the bots are still working just fine

| Zoomers are afraid of empty rooms and now this lmao

| >>842411 hmm is danger/u/ obscure enough? xd or something more obscure? let me know please ^^

| >>842486 aesthetic wise it isnt creepy, its rather appealing.
>>842469 danger/u/ is pretty dead lol
-OP

| I wonder what your take is on >>842388 OP, I don't usually see your perspective.

| >>842490 you're dead you fucking CUNT

| post links of dead, absurd, odd, or weird websites.

bare looking html sites like joyofsatan.org or heaven's gate website is also included :>

| Is fauux neocities worth posting or is it too overdone by now?

| depends on the content, I guess?

| It's just a weird Lain website.
https://fauux.neocities.org/

| >>842513 I remember this one. this was kinda relevant especially when I was in my systemspace phase lol

I can't open the puzzle stuff though, I'm no programmer

| OP is a faggot

| like ilovebees.org?

| >>842694 how’d you know :D

- OP

its made for arg tho I believe

| It's because I wasn't born yet to tell them their website sucks ass

| The reason is because they feel abandoned. Abandoned places were abandoned for a reason, and that makes our monkey brains go "brrr danger danger dangeru maybe?"

Also the government propaganda around piracy.

| >>842720 what the fuck is this help

| >>842376 Have you heard the Holy word of b-ball?

| Jokes aside I miss 1.0 znd early era Web 2. A website felt like your own Internet home and we should start making more again.

I miss aesthetics, customization, flash buttons, Web rings snd each site feeling like a treasure trove to explore.

| >>843231 Same poster here.

All these tech scumbags have no sense of art or taste. The web exists for two things in their mind "utility" and "Money" and that is the philosophy they are building this web 3 project upon.

Think of the difference between you want a cool car, so many choices but instead you just get Car(tm) and it's a grey block with wheels you get at the car(Tm) store house with 1000 matching car(tm)s and thats the philosophy of the modern internet.

| PSA
You can be the change you want to see join neocities
Or simply host your own, a domain is like $15 a year and you can host a website off a raspberry pi, or cheese oracle cloud free tier

The only way to bring back web 1.0 is if you nerds build your own webzone

| Raspberry pi's are that advanced?

| They just run an arm version of Linux so you can do basically whether you want

But yeah for years I kept a very basic website up just for image and script hosting, that was on a rpi 2 b+ I believe before they had Bluetooth and wifi even

| >>843282 Yeah this is the only answer really. Html is easy to learn then just a bit of css for polish

| >>842484 kids these days don't have an appreciation for the old internet.
