do most people really not think about dying or killing themselves all the time? or is there any person that has never thought of suicide ever? if most people really do not, then what are they thinking most of the time? I'm talking about people that are, yk, of age. Children not included. I've thought about killing myself way since I was 16, and at first, I was scared, but now that I'm in my 20s and still thinking about it, I feel like it's normal

I can never do it, of course. My dad will be sad, and also I have a girlfriend that I love. But I can't seem to stop thinking about... not living. Not existing. It's scary but I still think about it, and it's kinda painful for me.
I just wanna know what people think about when they're sad.

Have you considered thinking about cock and bussy like a normal person?

In all seriousness, the only times I ever think of suicide or have thoughts is when I am getting heavily depressed. No it is not normal to be dwelling on it all the time.
Luckily the issues for me that have caused depression have been more environmental and in changing that when I moved out I feel pretty alright not absolutely amazing and I get weepy at times.
If you can maybe a therapist could help. Though if you can't afford one. My biggest suggestion.

I always perceived it as a vent-ish thing; either thinking or even saying out loud "man, I should kill myself" and then moving on with your day. Do I have the guts to pull through with it? Nah. No one really does, I think.
If it's any consolation, an anon I once saw on 4ch talked about how he'd thought about... voluntary accidental suicide? I'm mincing it here - he had a better way of putting it - but the gist was that, for example, if a truck was coming straight at him (...)

(...) he wouldn't bother moving out of its way. That type of thing. He explained this to his dad, after which he'd asked if he understood. His dad just replied "oh yeah, I think about that all the time" or w/e. Several folks replied saying that their dads (or moms, even) also felt like that sometimes.
Fatigue's a bitch. Moreso when you go up in age. I don't think suicidal thoughts are unexpected or uncommon, but I don't think you should put 'em @ front and center, either.

>>840585>>840584,that's passive suicidal ideation or thoughts. They aren't active. Like you are going to seek it out. Though again the example you provided is dead on to what that is.

is to try and fix your life to the best of your ability and to improve it. To hopefully alleviate your mental symptoms by improving your physical health and life. Hopefully it could alleviate some depression or even cure it. Could be worth it as a cheap solution is a multivitamin because nutrient defincies can cause fatigue and fatigue is one of those things that can sort of death spiral you slowly into depression. I wish you the best of luck g/u/rl and hope you can feel better!

No, that sounds terrifying and I'm sorry you have to experience this. I do get very sad and hopeless sometimes, but never past the point of seriously contemplating suicide. I think it's common to at one point or another imagine a suicide thought experiment in your head. Even happy people might do something like that to better visualize the ramifications of taking their own life.

I think you should pursue a way to fight against your darker thoughts asap. If it's affecting your mind as severely as you say, then this symptom has long ago risen to a clinical level. A good therapist worth their salt can help you onto a clearer path. It will need to be a team effort and it may not be easy, but I believe you can find peace. Good luck g/u/rl.

Depression isn’t worth fighting, this is a controversial take as everyone would come rushing to you with how important valuing life is and some bullshit, but it’s the hard cold truth. I’ve known people who would be better off dead than fight this shit, everyday is a struggle for them and they fail to do the simplest tasks; helping them does little to nothing. They’ll give you meds just to be “normal” and soon you’ll be hooked and won’t feel like yourself ever, it’s not worth it.

>>840670 Clearly, they’re not afraid to show they want to die, but doing so would be “wrong”. Everyday is hell for them, why wouldn’t you want to have their suffering come to an end, genuinely? If assisted suicide was legal where I am I would gladly help.

>>840660 >Depression isn’t worth fighting Yet you fight yours every single day by coming to this site to fish for our attention. It may be a completely retarded approach to cope with your loneliness but it's still a fight.
By the way, I knew you were gonna go back to posting about your suicidal thoughts as soon as we stopped giving you attention in /new/. As I've told you before, you're not as anonymous as you think you are.

>>4b1e2d Your view has faulty assumptions and biases that need to be seriously examined. This shortsided perspective is far too absolute to be earnestly applied to the general population. Obviously, statistically, an extraordinarily small number of people are beyond salvation. But to say that there is never a worthwhile reason to combat depression is dangerous rhetoric that you need to reconsider.

You see one everyday and it kills everyone’s mood; you’d be lying to yourself if you didn’t think that. I’m doing well of myself actually. >>840687 okay, I would like to see a different perspective on depression. Why is it so prevalent and how do you “fix” it?

do you guys ever think about killing other people but can never go through with it, due to extenuating circumstances or morals? It feels almost normal since I have been thinking about it for as long as I can remember?
Post number #841253, ID: d8afa9

>>841222 Yup, same here. Horrible thoughts that I would rather not have like killing and torturing people, stretching all the way back to when I was a kid. Thinking about violence doesn't make you a bad person though. You are not your thoughts and unwanted unacceptable thoughts are common.
How you react to those thoughts can increase how frequently they occur so it's not a bad idea to practice mindfullness and acceptance.

Similarly, when you have these thoughts, write them down somewhere. Writing thoughts down takes them out of your mind and into a permanent place. Many people find that when they write out thoughts their mind accepts the idea of forgetting them more, and becomes less likely to bring them up.
I'm sure a lot of writers/comic book artists etc are writing as a creative outlet for their intrusive thoughts and found a way to capitalize on them. At least some of them have joked about it.
Honestly I'm not sure if I would act out the fantasies even if an opportunity presented itself. I'd have to be pretty inebriated or tilted to do any of it, and even then, it's not like I just want to do it for the sake of doing it- it's usually someone that's slighted me in some way. You know, like how sometimes people will curse out strangers over stuff like being cut off in traffic or whatever.
Not sure how to feel about people who fantasize murder just because.

>>841444 >Not sure how to feel about people who fantasize murder just because. I feel there's nuance to this, personally I tend to do it because I like coming up with theoretically viable ways to kill people and dispose of the bodies, purely as a thought exercise. I wouldn't actually harm a fly, granted I was pretty violent as a child, but I've grown since. So yeah even if it's "just because" it still varies a lot.
