| what do you guys think of the prepping community? is it just a bunch of paranoid guys buying a bunch of canned food or are they actually making smart decisions

Do you mean the fringe/joke dudes that the media gives attention to, or the prepping community as a whole?

Because the guys who stockpile ammunition and have closets full of freeze dried commercial crap are just another breed of dumbass with too much money. No different from any other flavor.

Actual peppers are just people who garden, learn to can their own food,
and have a plan for if something happens and they're isolated from society for two weeks.

| Like, there's nothing wrong with having extra medicine and supplies. Firewood or some other source of heat, a way to make clean water, etc.

Disasters happen, and knowing what to do if you're caught in one is perfectly reasonable, even if it never happens. Like, applying a tourniquet. Hopefully you'll never need to, but it's better to know how & never use it than need to do it and have no idea.

| (Because in the situations where you'd need to do it, you've usually only got minutes before someone bleeds to death)

that's fair, i also like to be prepared in case of emergency, of course buying things that would actually help me, having 25 rifles won't help me much.

This tbh.

| Ngl prepping takes some skill, like mentioned above actual preppers need a considerable amount of survival, cooking, and even construction knowledge.
Those wannabe preppers who horde toilet paper and essential needs can blow a cock.

Blowing a cock is often their only skill when its go time.

Which I think is my main beef with fake "preppers" and people who shit on the extended hobby of survivalism altogether. There's nothing wrong with teaching you skills that make you better prepared for a life of self reliance, and frankly I think more people can and should obtain such skills (even something like knowing how to do indoor plumbing or how to cook). All hoarding does is screw over people who actually need those supplies while you make yourself a prime target for raiders for things you'll never use in your lifetime.

| The best way to prepare i can think about it to know how to restart what remains of the unbroken after an event, such as how to produce power using car engines, produce food on your own and not die from a small infection
