I never drank alcohol because I'm afraid I might spill my deepest secrets when I'm drunk.

Alcohol isn't truth serum, but it will loosen your lips to a degree. It relaxes your inhibitions. Anything you wish you could comfortably say while sober will become easier to say once you've had a few drinks in you. I've said some dumb shit while drunk, but I've never acted contrary to my core beliefs, which in your case, seems to include hiding unsavoury secrets. Everybody's a little bit different though. Maybe you're making a wise choice.

Thank you. I needed these.
When I finally have any, I hope I'm among friends who I already don't hide any secrets with.

Alcohol (or just getting older) helps to removes stigmas about certain secrets. Like you end up meeting others with similiar histories

Alcohol basically removes your social filter/social anxiety. So if it's something that you want to say but you're just nervous about doing so, there's a chance you might. But if it's something you just genuinely don't wanna say, it won't happen. I drink pretty often, usually a bit more than I should, but despite that I've never spilled any secrets. The only people around me I've seen "spill secrets" are people who've been wanting to open up to me but haven't had the balls to do it.

>>830610 As they said, but let me add, often drunken ramblings are assumed to be false or not accurate anyway.

Now you guys made me curious what I would say when I'm drunk.
>>830610 You could say there are people I would "spill" to. I'm just also pretty bad at being aware of the other non-strangers in the room not directly in front of me. That's an interesting observation though.

>>830629 I mean, you won't know until you've tried, right? And, honestly, the times friends have opened up to me while drunk have usually resulted in us being closer, you know? Like, some of the best bonding moments I've had with close friends have been both of us drunk, walking away from the others for a bit and just opening up about stuff we've been wanting to say now that the social filters are off. It's really, really nice sometimes.
