2k was first windows that ran on the NT kernel, xp is more or less a polished windows 2k or windows me pronounced as the word me (according to the official marketing) but 2k had many people complaining about crashes and such because many drivers were dog shit and being drivers were in kernel space taking the whole system down with it, by xp they had matured and were more stable

It wasn't shit though. It was more stable from ME and even XP till SP2 got released. It only sucked for people because they didn't have multimedia bloatware out of the box.
