Im the type of friend that gets into games or interest of my friends so that I can bond with them. But I recently found out that its not polite?? To do that since its basically copying. Do I just not get into the same fandoms as my friend?

Eh? Is your friend gate keeping? Are you showing genuine interest in these games? If so, why not try to bond with them through interacting with them about the game?
If they are still fussy, that's not really a you problem

You can't get along with everyone I think you're doing something caring and considerate when you show interest in a person's hobby Don't let someone ruin you for everyone else
