>>1114832 Idk but it's the only option here so there's that Pills have to go through the liver so that may make them less effective? Sublingual is supposed to deliver them right to your bloodstream or something

Post number #1114861, ID: 5a3595

>>1114839 I believe sublingual results in quicker absorbtion so a shorter effective half-life, but is also more effective at delivering E itself because first pass as mentioned
The main benefit to injections is most people can do monotherapy because most t-blockers have not great side effects (if you experience them)
Exception is the gnrh agonists that are used as puberty blockers but for some reason they won't give to adults despite them being better overall :/

I'm kinda curious what country you're in where pills are the only option if you don't mind answering
In the US a lot of Drs don't like to prescribe things other than pills but other options are totally available

Doing sublingual pills might be your best option girl

:( I’m sorry g/u/rl. I have a trans fem (I wrote trans woman first but I think trans fem is nicer and less intimidating) in my family who is really nice and safe. Do you have some nice family members who help you feel relaxed? I hope this one doesn’t take it too hard :< and I hope you’re feeling ok

Uhh not really but I will be okay, this family member is fortunately genuinely trying to be respectful etc just knows very little about anything queer so it should be alright

I feel estrogen made me a lot more chill and extroverted I can recognize fragments of the person I was before lost in my flesh, but everything feels and plays so different it's hard to compare this new me to the old one.
Is this a normal thing that just happens?

I’ve heard this before. Some claim it’s that they were just suffering from running on the wrong hormones, some claim it’s from dysphoria lifting, some claim it’s a direct effect of estrogen. What I think: it’s some of the first two, but probably a dose dependent direct biological effect of estrogen on neural activity, which fades if you go off it.
Post number #1115310, ID: 019110

I say this because estrogen later in life isn’t supposed to change brain organization, it changes relative activity (sort of like how it doesn’t change the skeleton but changes fat distribution)

>>1115303 I believe that's a pretty common genre of thought and yeah basically what the first half of>>1115307 said
It's often described/felt in different ways but as with most things it's really individual
I'm sorta an outlier here due to prolonged depersonalization and isolation on top of it all pre hrt so I was sorta rebuilding a personality from scratch within the few years before and I feel more or less like a version of that who's not held back by something
Post number #1115316, ID: 5a3595
|
>>1115310 I can't say I know enough about the pharmacokinetics or neurochemistry to agree or disagree on E alone
But I do want to add that progesterone is at least somewhat common and I know it turns into neursteroids and stuff in the liver which definitely makes a noticeable difference mentally at least for me
E also changes gene expression and lots of other stuff so it's possible it's a downstream effect
But truthfully I think it's a mix of everything in personal amounts
Post number #1115317, ID: 5a3595

Placebo being as strong as it is definitely makes things harder to isolate in that area though, I know I felt euphoric, and better overall, after I did my first injection despite my E not suppressing my T properly until I increased dose and obviously directly after an injection very little of the ester would have been broken down into usable E

One theory I thought was interesting was that the beneficial mental effects of high testosterone are through it turning into estrogen, since estrogen acts on the brain so much. That’s also true about prog. I believe (maybe) it’s the same process which happens to DHT, and that’s why there’s fear about prescribing DHT blocker to people with a history of suicide, because blocking DHT blocks production of these positive neurosteroids.

>>1115347>high testosterone are through it turning into estrogen Damn gurl, for me, it only made me hypersexual and really dumb
But that may also be related to me being trans and all, I lived mostly in my head back then. I feel like I'm living in the real world now that I'm taking E
