Last year, as a new years resolution, I decided that I'd be more open to sharing my true feelings and opinions to my friends, when they actually matter to me. This went extremely poorly. I was able to share my feelings and thoughts pretty clearly, but it was obvious that nobody else understood them on anything but a purely logical level. Some other events happened in the year that made me realize that I really didn't understand my friends feelings and motives all that much either.

Don't really know what to do now. It went poorly enough that I am entirely convinced that I'd be a fluke if anyone I ever meet could feel some mutual relation or understanding.

I guess the answer is "keep on keeping on" and yeah, there's still plenty of non group activities I love doing, but idk I just don't feel a connection to anyone anymore and that's probably something required to be a human

I'm not sure, but I think talking to a therapist about this is probably a good idea TBH
> I just don't feel a connection to anyone anymore and that's probably something required to be a human
I think this reminds me of depersonalization and/or depression, but those are both things I've experienced so maybe biased, might be worth reading about some and see if it matches your feelings?

What were the opinions, like if its epstein is someone to look up to then I would understand them. but if its something small like thinking in and out is good thats silly

I think all humans being should accept that no other person will ever "truly understand" them like they wish, it is part of life not many people talk about... although probably because it feels sad to recognize it.
Does this mean we should give up in trying to understand each other? Of course not
You should come to terms with that, but also try to look beyond that, like: "To what level of understanding I'm willing to try to reach others?"
Or things like

"even if others do not fully understand me, do I still want to help them/befriend them/ reach them?"
In my personal case, I did feel pretty alienated from most human people because I felt no one truly knew me at a deep level (And if they did, maybe they'd misinterpret me)
What helped me (personally) regain a feel of connection to humanity was reading/hearing other people's stories and different mediums of art
It helped me because I could relate to some, or many of their

Feelings and thoughts that they wanted to express or transmit
Some people's stories were even pretty similar to mine, so I truly felt like I was not alone in this world

maybe if you and i have sex we can understand eachother
It started out small, one person assumed I was anxious about a date that my other friend had wanted to set me up on. I really don't like people telling me what I'm feeling, so I messaged them directly and they blew up at me. Started saying some really mean stuff about how I was just being a dick by pointing out how I felt. I really did try to be as neutral as I could going into that conversation. Honestly I think I was pretty neutral overall there.

I have known this person for about 7 years so this was really dismaying, I really couldn't believe they would say stuff like that. Regardless, I went to some of my other friends to confirm things person 1 said, and they independently said that it was a "bit annoying" that I asked for advice for the potential date, but didn't take it. They also said that it "was obvious that was the case" and that they were surprised that I didn't know that.

After that I kinda went around and talked to other longstanding friends about why I was even upset in the first place about person 1 and none of them seemed to get it. I was told, indirectly and directly, that they also didn't get why I would be concerned about this many months after the fact.
Some of the other things I brought up because of this new years resolution involved events where I overheard someone and wanted to clear something up, but they happened many many months ago.

A specific and notable one of these was when I heard a couple of my friends comfort a friend who has just gone through a breakup. But then when breakup guy left, they started talking behind his back and a few people chimed in.
Stuff like that really gets me rialed up and I tried to explain that to a few of my friends and it didn't really hit for anyone. I got the sense that my friends only really logically knew why I cared so much about a lot of the things I care about.

Eventually I just told my friend group how I was feeling, about not really feeling a connection to anyone or anything, and I was essentially met with a "well just try harder to explain things and understand others" and I mean... I guess. Sure. I've tried a few times since because I think I've lost a vital filter or something, but it's just annoying at this point and they usually ignore it if I say something depressing. Better than getting into an argument though.

Disclaimer: I'm definitely not perfect, also it's probably just undiagnosed autism but also knowing that doesn't really help
