The Decline of Search Engines

| People are not talking about it enough. It's so fucking ass and just keeps getting worse. SEO optimization and manipulation has gotten out of hand and now we get AI Overviews to add to the pile.

I'm not gonna be like, back in the old days of the internet or dead internet theory. I do like algorithms. TikTok and Reels have great algos. I love finding low view Reels that is just a bunch of freak shit.

But man, fuck Google. The alternatives aren't much better either

| True.

| The summary thing is useful but I usually ask chatgtp these days for better sources and things

| Google said search quality doesn’t affect revenue. Makes sense, the longer you stay on Google, the longer you watch ads.

| duckduckgo or duckduckgetthefuckout

| >>1063714
duckduckgo is politicized piece of known-substance!

| >>1063755
>muh racism isn't being supported therefore duck bad
Chuds must die

| I only use Google like a shortcut to go to sites that I actually trust, like Wikipedia or specific news site or proper dictionary sites. Otherwise it's way more reliable to just ask a real person about something instead of searching.

| Yandex

I miss when bait was believable

| Is startpage still around and is it still shit

| It routes thru Google I believe and I think so

| >>1063770
What?
I'm about that they are declared that they will be correct the output on requests from my Country ~2-3 yr ago, why, just due to politics, of course, unfair.

Dear, g/u/rl. Remember, races exists, and no racism!

| >>1063956
Learn to articulate wtf

| >>1063956
And no, races doesn't exist. Homo sapiens sapiens is the race, not the kingdom, you uneducated racist twat.

| >>1063956
Hehe ;)

| >>1063689 Outsourcing your thinking. This is part of the problem and its making people dumber.

| >>1063956 does your native language not have punctuation?

| It sucks that every time you search for something now, that forced AI shit it shoves in your face will have a negative small impact on the enviroment each time, there should be more options to disable that AI shit, i just want to do a normal search without feeling like i'm literally Zaibatsu

| >>1064002
Oh ok :(

| >>1063972
Oh, silly g/u/rl, learn terms befoe you argue.
Race is an open population system that is in a state of constant change. The selection of these systems depends on the degree of detail in the selection of genetic sets of similarity. So, we can broadly select the so-called large races (Caucasian, Asian, etc.), or we can take such a detailed set that each person will represent their own unique race. So, race is populational, and therefore statistical concept.

| >>1063972
Use a strictly scientific terminology.

| >>1063971
Hm, I thought that I'm enough articulate it. Understood.

| >>1064006
Of course, it has. Sorry for my bad English.

| >>1063974
Em..? :)

| >>1064002
Agree! Absolutely agree!

| >>1064048
Yeah, nowadays developers integrates AI everywhere, even in my favorite TeX IDE! I agree with that needs more options to disable it. Why they didn't make it modular, then you can install/uninstall it by wish.

In my search engine you can enable AI for regular search, but I don't see the way to return back to usual search without reloading page entirely (maybe also dropping cookies).
