I still some WISIWYG-text processor like word, to work with doc(x)-files, cos some departments still use word, but my main document preparing system is LaTeX. This is WISIWYM-text processor and more powerful than any WISIWYG-one; recommended use TeXstudio as IDE for it (install it strongly next after complete installation of TeXlive).
Literally you programming your document (at first time see it like layout the page). Autonumbering the formulas, table, etc

Dear, g/u/rl, for self use maybe enough, but when edit many text from many authors, or just need work over text with colleagues, word (and similar) is bad idea, especially between different OS. Pseudo-programming lang? Pfff! Yeah, it has specific programming style and it is not universal like C; most users are used it as layout lang, maybe even similar to xml rather than html (preparing own macrocommand as like own tags in xml case),..

| At now there is a lot of packages, which includes into project (document) in preamble part. For mathematics, chemistry, physics, music, etc.
And the main thing of all of it is that you literally programming your document! If you not programmer, it is hard for you to understand, unfortunately.
