If someday in the future they actually develop a sentient AI and they give that AI free will, is it morally okay for that AI to look at publicly available art and learn from that?
Sentient AI's "brain" power should be limited to be like a human's.

It is okay for every AI to do it. Yes, artists will be pissed but you can’t stop progress. Yes, it will fuck humanity up at some point but that’s okay.

You can’t stop entropy. The world WILL become more complex. The sentient AI thing getting access to everything will increase complexity, so it WILL happen sooner or later. Questioning if that is moral or not misses the point.

>>1059009 if it's a thinking being it would create its own work. LLMs on the other hand are not real ai just bloated programs with hype marketing that require training data to remix existing data.

>>1059046 The correct take. A sentient AI has nothing to do with current "AI" tools. A hypothetical AI can think for itself, thinking an imagining it's own art, instead of meshing pixels together into what it knows to be art.

>>1059046 Why would it? There are humans that mimic/copy art styles of others, why wouldn't there be sentient AI that copy the art style of others too

One of the most amazing things about humans is they don't have to think for themselves entirely. Human civilization is built off of learning and taking inspiration from each other. Having history, history that AI has access to and can potentially process far faster than humans ever could
