>can't drive >ask dad if he could drive me >"sure" >after two years find a job that actually wasn't a scam >successfully apply >today we're meant to sign 3 months employment form >ask him to give me a lift >"who the fuck do you think you are? It's you going to work, not me, what do you expect, to drive you forever?"

I am afraid of driving cars and I ended up crying tonight because of this declaration. I haven't cried in years. I'm not even sure what's my end game here now. Bus is not an option because it's shithole which requires you to drive a car. He started counting out and calculating how much gasoline he'll waste driving me there everyday. (It's 15km drive. I'm sure the wage would make up for it)

Stop whining, with your first paycheck buy a bike or scooter. Wake up early and walk if thats the only way. Find solutions.

Poor cutie. Please keep with it! Hug hug. Can we teach you to drive or smth? My sister was pretty afraid and doesn’t drive much but can drive to work n all. Google maps says that’s about. 40 minutes one way by bike. I have a 40 minute 1 way commute by car which sucks but is possible. Particularly if it’s a temporary thing. I’m guessing he’s not hopeful about your job choice?

Op I'm also scared of driving but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. Your dad was being harsh but he's right, he can't drive you forever.
Also remember advocate for more public transport and walkable development in your city!

>>1058869 Some American cities only have roads for cars. I'm serious, you can't even bike. So grow up and stop with the ignorant and obnoxious posts already because they don't make you look as cool as you think. It makes you look pathetic, especially at your age...

Those electric scooters you stand on doesn't cost all that much and they can easily take you 3km a day. You can get decent ones for as low as 250-350 euro.

Wait, you said 15km. That changes things.

I just did a quick DDG search and there are lots of electric scooters with a strange of 30km that costs 200euro and up. I think you'll get used to these quickly and eventually they become fun to drive in the morning, especially if the weather is nice and you listen to fitting music while you drive.

thats actually super shitty, OP. i'd understand if his rationale was "i have my own job/cant be in two places at once" but to just deny your family member assistance in GETTING A JOB so they have the means to attain transportation themselves on some bootstrap shit is just so backward. stick with it. i hate to echo what some less than charitable ppl have said but find a way forward. youve made huge progress applying & being chosen for the job. huge. keep moving forward, you got this
