Hi, recently made changes from Firefox i see little unpopular.. it seems as bloatware, grouping is very messy and ai seems as joke.. but if i can be honest i really love adblocker, gecko (and smoothness in general), compact design etc.. but i'm worrying Gecko is also reason i will need to leave it in future because most developers just making things for webkit..
did you left firefox? and if you did where did you moved to? is chrome still so slow? and what about opera or others?

I usually use librewold but I used Firefox today and liked the new dropdown on the left because I had quick access to ai while watching a movie and not understanding why the characters act the way they do and it helped me understand and also Bitwarden is way better that way because it closes when you click away the normal way

librewolf, planning to move to tor browser or just left the internet

I was a Chrome user for nearly a decade, but I moved to Brave a year ago, because I could see Chrome was going in the direction of blocking access to adblockers and userscripts.
I really only need adblockers and the 4chanX userscript, that's all I want, and no one is going to strip it away from me
Luckily, Brave was VERY similar to Chrome in UI and browser structure, so I immediately felt comfy. And I could install my beloved script (And ads are blocked by default) I like it.

Librewolf is a fork of firefox. You can just import everything from firefox into it seamlessly. It even has firefox sync!
It's also much faster. I think the google money that firefox is taking has incentivized them to make the browser slightly slower than chrome. Librewolf has no such speed reductions.

>>1054564 i dont get the love for brave either. it used to be based on fucking internet explorer and now its a frontend for chromium. like, you're kidding yourself if you abandon chrome for brave.
remember when brave got caught snooping on you in secret? everything you ever put into any box, ie the google search text box or any login box, is directly sent to brave servers for analysis.

Brave sucks.
When your spouse or someone you thought was your best friend has a habit of cheating and lying to you, they don't deserve a "Get Out of Jail Free" card just because they "promise to be better" after breaking such promises repeatedly.

Eich and his company have proven that they are untrustworthy entities with sneaky/sleazy business practices and the last thing anyone truly interested in privacy needs is a critical vendor of a major tool that is central to your privacy protection that cannot be trusted.
It's like using a VPN that is run by your biggest enemy.
No thanks.

Ever since I learned that Firefox has their telemetry turned on by default. I moved to Librewolf. I still respect the work that Mozilla does and earnestly believe in them, but the latest news is... disheartening to say the least.

>>1054879 tbh i think firefox is probably somehow "best" at least in gecko based browsers meanwhile.. yes there is mess but you can configure it.. until another update comes what mess up it.. until you want extreme privacy but people prefer Tor for this kind of purposes.. and plug-ins are nice thing

So Floorp is another one who just was kicked out i was curious about sidebar little but result is.. weird.. it's feel as using older firefox with add-on than actually another browser. Funniest thing is when i uninstalled it, i was filling reason why i was uninstalling - and firefox's survey poped up Opera Air is prettier than GX it seems as identical browser just gimmicks for gaming replaced gimmicks for "mindfulness" etc. sadly interface isn't customisable as in Firefox
Post number #1054897, ID: 454928
|
So i just tried out Vanilla Opera - honestly best version. but sadly isn't clean enough and not customisable enough. tabs movement isn't so simple as in Firefox if is splited in 2 windows.. Brave seems as more secure Chrome with few things as paid VPN, Tor, Crypto, ad-blocking out of the box, ai etc.. but is it something what i need? Them policy is honestly really weird and idk.. but at least is not missing things as Chromium.. Is different than Google.. it's about preferences

Vivaldi seems at first sight as not bad clone of Opera, i will need trying it out little more next time. Settings are easy to access, about side-menu i have mixed feelings but maybe is there option to hide it or customise.

Post number #1054922, ID: 454928

>>1054916 well you tasked me, there it is, but i must say i spended in every browser less than hour:
1. Firefox (I must say i moved from Chrome to Firefox around 2012-2016 (i don't remember) so maybe i'm just biased but i see it probably as best browser..) 2. Floorps (because it's Firefox clone, not bringing anything big except slider and older version, there is no reason to using it, just pick Firefox or Vivaldi)
Post number #1054923, ID: 454928
|
3. Vivaldi (I'm not decided yet but i think it's probably best bink based browser, settings looks more complex and easier to use but i will need more time to test it out) 4. Chrome (this is reason why all browsers looks as they are.. it's made standards)
Post number #1054924, ID: 454928
|
5. Brave (it looks nearest to Chrome, having some interesting privacy things but also is trying selling you own advertisments instead for crypto or VPN - it looks too agressive for me but probably not all things are supposed to be free)
Post number #1054925, ID: 454928
|
6. Opera (ahh almost i would say i like Arc maybe more, but at least not requesting account, it's best form of Opera without gimmicks, but Vivaldi seems more polished, not clearly bad but not for me, i would say there is starting line of better browsers, but i would worrying there by affection of China)
Post number #1054926, ID: 454928
|
7. Chromium (versions are old and taking a while before update, missing features from Chrome, and i wasn't able to access store with plug-ins, probably i will need get them 3rd party? sadly really big deal-breaker - i would just recommend to use Chrome or Brave instead)
Post number #1054927, ID: 454928
|
8. Opera GX, Opera Air (Opera Air is having cute skin but it's just reskinned Opera with gimmicks, and gaming features in GX are mess, but VTuber or task manager isn't bad but do you really need it in 2025? Just use Opera or anything else) 9. Arc (requiring account before you can actually using it, it's hillarious..)

Google Chrome is one from Google Ungoogled Chromium is made by individuals Brave is made by Brave Software etc. but yes they are basically "same" but there are differences in using. Vivaldi which seems kinda nice to me is also built on Chromium. If i would leave Firefox once i think i would go in this
