"My grandpa once told me 'if you get on the wrong train, get off at the nearest station, the longer it takes you to get off, the more expensive the return trip will be.' He wasn't talking about trains."

Sigh, I wished these were true but they aren’t. >>1052271 This implies a need to eat them. Many people are mean to outsiders but happy because they have stable social things. >>1052272 This one is really true. But maybe more fear makes people stay on the train longer. >>1052273 Yeah agreed >>1052274 Usually not true because it’s such a big world and not everyone goes down. >>1052275 Hah! I like’ trying the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity’

>>1052305 I take it english isn't your first or second language because some of your replies are so far off-topic it's actually kinda funny. >This implies I believe in the importance of accountability in our words. Whether someone agrees or not, kindness is never wasted. >Usually not true because I stand by that advice. It's about fostering genuine connections and recognizing that our paths are interconnected and if shit hits the fan for you everyone will remember how you acted.

>>1052332 I'm glad I made you smile :-) I guess it wasn't wasted then ;-) I still think they're kinda wrong, for instance if you were kind to a rabid dog, that would be wasted, but in a sense I guess you could say no kindness actually comes out of that since the dog does not benefit. But I'm feeling a little bad about arguing now, but also a little silly :-) >>1052335 awww thanks >>1052348 I like how grounding this is. That's something I've been wanting to be more of lately.

oh and I do think it's a really nice thread! I meant it about the quote I shared at the end of here- >>1052305
hmmm another quote...
"she who cuts her own wood warms herself twice" has a cute ring to it, but of course it's not always true. I think sometimes it is though because the feeling you're making the problem better makes the solution seem better, like a nice meal you made yourself.

I like "While trying to pick a flower, mind the risk of becoming fertilizer". There's also "When your only tool's a hammer, all problems will look like nails". Chesterton gave us "Never take down a fence until you know why it was put there", too. "The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese" is a good one too. A personal favorite is "If stupid people are in power, it means they're well represented"
